How did you get introduced to DDR?

May 2000 - Saw DDR for the first time at Anime Central, but didn't play. The machine was a domestic DDR "1.5".

June 2000 - Anime Expo - Roomie at con got DDR 2 for PS1 and a couple of really cheap soft pads. Played for first time, failed "Let Them Move" on Basic/Light. Was a bit discouraged from playing between the failures and the sucky mats. With roomies, hosted my first DDR party at AX2K.

December 2000 - Irvine Center, CA - Played arcade DDR machine for the first time, was DDR3+. Start obsession here By the end of the month, I would own an import Dreamcast, both DDR games for it, and 2 "Dancecast" pads.

Currently I own 4 BNS Ultra-DX pads (BNS's version of Ignition 2.0), both the Dreamcast mixes, all the USA PS2 mixes save for Disney, all but a few of the Japanese PS2 mixes, and an Athlon 1433 dedicated to Stepmania.

I have also hosted DDR parties at the following conventions:

Anime Iowa 2001
--Dreamcast, DDR2, DDR Club, Dancecast pads fastened to floor - better setup than the con's game room had!
CONvergence 2002 (first 2-stage party)
--Stage 1: JPS2, all major DDRs up to DDR 6, RedOctane pads fastened to floor
--Stage 2: Dreamcast, DDR2, DDR Club, Dancecast pads fastened to floor
--Dancecast pads died this party
Relaxacon/CONsume 2002 (Saturday only)
--JPS2, all major DDRs up to DDR 6, RedOctane pads
Midwest Furfest 2002 (Friday only)
--JPS2, all major DDRs up to DDR 6, RedOctane Ignition 2.0 pads
CONvergence 2003 (DDR 5th Anniversary)
--Stage 1: JPS2, all major DDRs up to DDR 7, BNS UDX pads
--Stage 2: UPS2, all USA DDRs save for Disney, BNS UDX pads
Anime Iowa 2003 (DDR 5th Anniversary)
--All that was at CONvergence 2003 but shared between only one stage

--JPS2, all major DDRs up to Extreme, BNS UDX pads

Anime Detour 2004 (first one to use Stepmania)
--Stepmania 3.9a14, all songs to ever appear in DDR to that date, BNS UDX pads
--Convention-sponsored DDR novice tourney used my facilities

Yeah, I guess you could say I'm quite obsessed nowadays....I even have 10-15 catas under my belt now, which isn't too shabby for a 32-year-old
