I'd like to ask several questions acually...

Directly on the front page of your site it says your trying to crack down on piracy. I must ask how you are doing it. As well, if you REALLY were trying to crack down on them and acually SUCCEEDED wouldn't that have a major impact on the bootleg copies of the next mix (if they have one) being sold in the US and Canada? I'm greatly sure after losing one bootleg machine an arcade wouldn't be happy to buy another.

As well, you said people of all skills are welcome, yet the qualifiers are 8 feet or higher, when I personally know several people who play frequently who are stuck on 5 footers. How are you really going to get players of all skill levels playing and on a ranking if your tournaments are for experienced PAers only? As well, if you do have lower standard tournaments, who is to stop the experts from joining anyways giving the newer players a proper rank?

As well, why have a page where sponsors can 'sign up' to help sponsor you? Hopefully you are going about other ways of advertising then having to send all posible money givers out there to a poorly done site and then them signing up without a clue in the world of what your doing yet. How are you advertising it to 'sponsors'? The fact that you have a signup place on your site is iffy enough to me. If that is how your planning to get sponsors this is going to flop before it even begins, even if it isn't just some made up thing.

As well, you mention the use of steriods, strictly prohibited. Why? If you guys are a SERIOUS organization you wouldn't seriously be dumb enough to put that up I hope. Yeah, your going to drug test all the competitors first. After giving them Red Bull... which is pretty much a temporary super hyper steriod in itself, although not technically a steriod. You can't specifically mention another companies product to give out without their permission as well. The fact that you specifically mention the giving out of Red Bull to each ironman competitor means that your organization clearly hasn't thought everything (or pretty much anything for that matter) out. The fact you are giving out free energy bars, energy drinks such as gatorade AND a free can of red bull to EVERYONE in the ironman and other competitions, not to mention the fact that you will have to rent out every arcade you plan to have a tournament in in which you must have a very good relationship with the owners of the machines and arcades because I'm sure they don't want to lose money, your in for more cost than you can afford. Plus your entire organization has to have the time put into it and the effort. Your looking at over 50$ entrace fee if you don't have any sponsors yet. And if you do have sponsors, name them. If your company is keeping their sponsors secret there are some seriously problems with your validility, because sponsors don't like to be kept secret.

As well this I REALLY have to ask, under "about the NDDRA" it mentions using official Japanese Extreme Machines. Correct me if I'm wrong... but won't that cost you more than $5000 a machine? Plus shipping? The shipping alone will butcher the cost. I'm pretty sure the extreme machines were pre-order only? Good luck contacting an arcade over there and stealing their machines since you won't be able to afford them, and then good luck getting permission from Komani to own official ones if you want to avoid legal problems.

I personally think at the moment this is a big scam. Not a scam for money but a scam where he either by himself (or with a group of 5-6 friends) thought up some quick thing, posted it, and hoped to fool people or hoped that other people would help him out.

I'm really hopefully that something like this does come up though, that isn't a scam. So please, if your not a scammer, answer all my questions, and if you don't have the answers, get someone who does. And if they say simple answers are too informative because they give away the secrecy they need for some reason, slap your boss in the face and tell him he is going to fail outright for that very reason if what your saying is true.

For PA, what's the logic behind allowing speed mods, but not for the qualifier?

I mean, if you think it's fair (player's perference), why is isn't allowed in the qualifier? If you think it's not fair (gives an advantage), why is it allowed during the rounds? E19.gif

I'm not trying to be rude, I just really don't see the logical consistancy...

Yeah this sounds like a great idea and all, but I don't think you guys can pull it off. You have minimal ddr tournament experience. An unrealistic budget. And unknown members to the community running all of this. You want to do something at a national level, but don't have the resources, reputation or experience to do so.
...or you just have a bad PR person.

Just a word of advice: You're setting yourself up to lose alot of money. Be realistic about what you can and can't do.

btw, if your sponsors are selling ddr merchandise; i don't think they'll be too happy about you selling merchandise at the event as well. who wants to sponsor a competetor? if that's now what your sponsors do..well, who else wants to sponsor a ddr tournament?

I'm for you.

Do the favor of responding to Phrekwenci and everybody else's questions and I (not just me, probably everybody else) will be convinced. Good luck.

What we are saying is that anyone is allowed to enter. In large tournaments the majority of people don't qualify. Even if your not good we encourage you to enter any tournament. It will be an experience and will allow you to try harder next time. Playing against players better than you really helps you out.

We said we're not going to have standard division tournaments, so we don't have to worry about people of higher skill entering a standard division.

That is not a sign up page. You didn't have access to the page. There is no way for you to know what is on the page. That was a login page for our sponsors where they can easily view info/news directed directly towards them. You have no idea how we are going to get sponsors.

What? That doesn't make sense. We can easily buy cases of Red Bull for our Ironman competitors. If you ever entered an Ironman competition you would appreciate it.

We would never charge $50.
$15 for each PA division
$10 for Ironman

Again, not a valid point. You are correct about the cost. That was for a future goal, not today's goal. You can still get official Japanese machines, just not new though. There are official machines in the States right now. Bootlegs are more illegal than an official machine over here.

Tell you what, don't enter our tournaments when they come around.

That's a very good point. I beleive that speed mods should be allowed. I know this is a very controversial issue. As for the qualifier, the reason why we don't allow speed mods in the qualifying is because we still beleive that people should still be able to play at 1x, even though they may perform better with mods. So people shouldn't have anything against people using mods, but the people should still be able to play at a decent level without the speed mods.

We never said our sponsors were selling ddr merchandise. We won't be selling merchandise ourselves either. We will allow for people who create their own bemani-related merchandise to sell it at our events. There are many high quality products made by some well-known people in the community. We want to give the public a better chance to test and look at the products in person before they would spend a lot of money on something that turns out not so great to them. If anyone wants to buy merchandise available in large quantities and made from a large company, they could just buy one off of the internet. We are allowing the public to see how great these small-production products are.

And about everyone who says the budget is unrealistic, why don't you give us estimates on what everything will cost. I would like to see what the price of this is in your mind. Drinks and powerbars are not that expensive, there are too many complaints about us not being able to afford that. The highest prices we will be paying are to the arcade and for hosting all of the event media. If you guys really think we can't handle the funding, why don't you explain it all in detail so we know exactly what you're talking about.

One more note. About our website, I said it wasn't very great. This not not a reason to insult us. First, there is not much information on our webpage because we have not yet announced an event. Second, look at the webpages of other tournaments if they have one. I have never seen insults towards their webpages. And lastly, more than half of what is on our server is not publicly accessible. All of the state ranking systems are not up yet, the sponsor videos are not for the public, and the chatrooms aren't yet accessible.

Please don't abuse our email for stuff like this.

If you would like to voluntarily ban yourself from us, please just kindly tell us.

Answered through PM.

One more thing. We said we would supply sports drinks and energy bars. For some reason everyone assumed Gatorade or Powerade and Powerbars. This might not me the case. We could get a sponsor from a company and go with the sponsor instead.

I think the point you are missing is, why would a company want to sponser a no name group, with people who only half play DDR, and of those have only played fora year and a half. Your credability is 0 right now, because you wont tell people who you are and you havent played DDR for an overly long time.

Uhh, you said you've been playing a year and a half? Isn't that like me, a 17 year old, trying to bring back the "old ways" of the 70's? I can imagine, having played for less than a year myself, what ol' school ddr was like, but isn't it a weird motivation for somebody who hasn't been playing for long enough to try to bring it back to old ways for old players? I know you have older members, but your motivations seem a bit screwed up.

Sponsors may sponsor our individual tournaments. If they really like us, then they may sponsor the whole NDDRA. This was stated earlier. I don't half play DDR. I have a decent number of 9 foot SDGs. I'm going to bring up a point DDRmom brought up earlier, some of the newer players are good and deserve respect. By the way, I said about a year and a half. It could of been more, but that is still a decent amount of time. I also classify myself under generation two. Every single location I have been to, wtih the exception of one, has had my name top ranked into a DDR machine. This is not really related but I think it is important to point out.

Whoa, even a year ago DDR was similar to earlier times. It hasn't been until recently that it has become the way it is.

So, from what I gathered from your PM. I still didn't see a relation to the credentials you wrote to being able to host a DDR tournament. Most of the PM had me asking what it has to do with the price of tea in China. You'll need to make a name for yourselves as tournament organizers before anyone will take you seriously. Just playing the game and being a good player won't cut it. Neither will having a PhD.

Dear NDDRA,

We regret that this could have gone through a discussion process between DDR Freak and NDDRA about possible partnership, sponsorship or any other suitable form of relationship first. Unfortunately, without such a discussion or an indication thereof (from J Dogg) preceding this thread, we have to label this thread as an unauthorized advertisement of your organization.
