It's hard to remember exactly, b/c I got it with a bunch of other stuff (printer, extra cables, enge software bundle), but I think somewhere in the neighborhood of $2300.

Hm? Under 2.0 is bad? My laptop is 1.7 Ghz and it runs perfect. I also play it on the TV but whichever one I play Stepmania on it runs smoother than the computer.

^ hence, it's not all about the frequency of the processor.

stepmania ran perfectly on my friend's Pentium IIIm at 866MHz. Dell Inspiron 4100, with a Radeon 32MB Video card and 256MB of ram.

Smooth framerate and all without video/audio lag?

yes.

even worked when connected to a tv via s-video and two mats via parallel

just to note, the laptop was plugged in, therefore it runs at full speed 866MHz; i remember most old mobile intel processors underclock automatically once the power is disconnected to save battery.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, since I hear most laptop batteries can only handle 2 hours of uptime if you don't even do anything.

i'd actually want to test stepmania with the power cable unplugged, and see how well stepmania runs with the processor at 667 MHz.

too bad the laptop hard drive crashed =(
