Several computer languages use "!" for various meanings, most importantly for logical negation; e.g. A != B means "A is not equal to B", and !A means "the logical negation of A" (also called "not A"). In this context, the exclamation is named the bang character; other programmers call it a shriek or screech.

There's the reasoning. Have no pity in calling it screech either.[/i]

Many people believe Onyx to be a pseudonym for Kyle Ward. It isn't necessarily, but at the very least, he is one of the developers of the game.

At Nat05, called for WinDEU's help because, "he knows the Bang code... I don't," when players wanted to play ! on expert on a machine that had not yet been unlocked.

Therefore, Kyle Ward pronounces it "bang," which means that is most likely the correct pronunciation.
