it's actually EXTREMELY useful for reading high bpms. like the end of vertex on 1.5x (which would be 918bpm scroll rate since the end of the song is 612bpm on 1x).

And the whole 'press start AGAIN' instead of holding it to get to the menu.

You can hold start to get to the options menue just as you have always done. Or if you don't like holding start you can tap start twice.

Really?

Everyone taps the start button twice on the arcade I go to for ITG 1, and it works just fine.

Actually time I've seen ITG, people have hit start twice to get into the menu.

I've been meaning to ask about this actually...

something about the software for ITG makes the selector buttons EXTREMELY sensitive. So sensitive in fact that they often double or triple press. nothing changed physically with the buttons on the machine I play on, and when it was a 4th plus this was not a problem, so I'm assuming it is a software issue. at any rate, it may be that the arcades you've been to Foy have really sensitive buttons that are double pressing...you do indeed have to press start twice to get into the menu though. sometimes when the button doesn't act all overly sensitive I have to double press the button myself.

I WAS playing at The Break, NJ

But everyone hates me for looking like a n00b on ItG so, I think I'll find somewhere else...

It is programmed to work by holding start OR by tapping it twice. I just talked to the guys at 8ontheBreak and they confirmed that holding it at that location works as designed.

That siad I will definatly look into what you are saying. I have not experianced the problem that you have encounterd, but by no means am I implying that you have not had that issue. Thanks for brining it up, we will see what we can find out about this.

Wow, that is a whole lot of NOT COOL. If people are giving you any kinda flack for being a noob then they are totally missing the point of this game. Send me a PM if you like and we can talk about this in more detail.

I've hated people who make fun of n00bs in the arcade all along. They never really bothered me, but I know how it feels trying a new game that you know you're bad at and playing it front of other people. I learned DDR, from 1s to 10s, all in the arcade. I've never had a home version to practice on. So, I try to look out for newbies at my arcade... though I am frequently a bit over-the-top about trying to help them. I still do my best.

Making fun of somebody for being an ItG "n00b" (what would that even mean, anyway? Not getting ****s or passing 11s?) is totally not cool.

Yeah, Stepmania of course, but really, playing on the keyboard and playing with your feet are pretty much totally different games... especially now that I'm getting into the 10+ game, as well as PA/FA on easier songs. And early on, praciticing rhythms and sightreading on the keyboard was all well and good, but it didn't help me with the balance, technique and stamina I needed to play DDR with my feet.

Maybe that's part of why I can read really well on 1x, and I've always been better at rhythmically complex songs than at straightforward difficult songs. :S

Beatmania is WAY different from keyboard SM. Beatmania involves stuff like keeping track of several rhythms at once, more keys, and so on... but it also has a more convenient key layout. Long fast runs are easier to do with the keys spaced out like in Beatmania.

...wait, I'm getting off-topic.

On the subject of ItG2, We Know What To Do (ex), Visible Noise (h) and Clockwork Genesis (alt-hard) all look really awesome and fun. I hope to see more stepcharts like that on ItG2 than there were on ItG. biggrin.gif

I downloaded the full version of Cyrosleep from the Machinae Supremacy website (they're really nice to provide a bunch of their songs for download) because it's so cool. It's pretty good!
