I notice that somtimes, when I am browsing the DDRFreak message boards, a page will begin to load up, but in less then a second, a new page lodas intead of the regular page. The page that pops up in its place is some smileys4ever.com or something stupid like that, and has a bunch of smileys on it advertising their huge number of smileys. I use mozilla 5.0, and have all pop-ups disabled.

If it happens again, I will come back and list the URL it brings me to. (this has happened to me over half a doze times)

EDIT: I just got it again. I end up at the URL
http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZNxdm414

Also, if I hit back, it will go to the page I clicked the link on, not the page I wanted to go to.

Perhaps. I explored their website a bit, and they had an uninstall file, which I ran, and hopefully that will be the end of it.

You may also want to run Spybot S&D ( safer-networking.org ).
and Ad-Aware ( lavasoftusa.com ).
Just to be safe.

[edit]
Crap, it just happened to me >_<.
And I'm on Firefox!!
DeSoulMan, could you provide details about that uninstaller and such? I'm going to go track down the banner and page it occured on.

P.S. It was a thread in Console Games. I open all unread threads though, so I have no idea which one it was E10.gif.

[edit2]
Every once in a while I get a net reset error.
The page is http://jgen1.cjt1.net
It's not loading, but I'm curious if it's the source of the problem.

The thread I get it on is seemingly random. I got it once in just one of the forums, and not in a particulary thread. The installer I found was on the website that pops up.

We can't tell, because it physically changes your page entirely.
It's not a pop-up. It's like it sends a Location: header that somehow breaks out of it's iframe... I'm not entirely sure though, because I can't be.

[edit]
It hasn't occured tonight at home. The first occurance to me was at work.
Haven't seen it since.

I've had it happen to me once, but it was before this was regarded as a possible banner issue. I'll see if I can figure it out if I get it again.

Firefox is pretty much the same as Mozilla. They have pretty much all the same features, and are put out by the same company.

Mozilla's interface differs in a number of ways from that of Firefox. The latter is simply faster and more useful to people who don't need the built-in mail client.

^ If it happens again and you're using Safari, bring up the Activity Window (Window -> Activity or CMD+Option+A).

Look under the DDR Freak :: ***** list, you should see a sub list of items like that starts with "www.ddrfreak.com/lib/". Inside of that is all the information loaded by the ad's iFrame - if you can get the URI from that then we'd know exactly what ad it was.

Edit: I don't think it matters what banner is on the page... It keeps doing it....

Whomever thought this was a good advertiseing idea had to have been smokeing something......

It's totally random. It's only happened to me one day.
