Konami probably felt that the Groove Radar more accurately depicts the difficulty of a song. For example, if a song has a lot of jumps, the groove radar shows that better than eight green feet can. And then they realized that players didn't want to think that much about the difficulty of a song, so they put the foot ratings back in.

You mean DDRMAX 6th Mix? No, you aren't. Hm. I was gonna say just look around on the screen, but it turns out that since so many poeple agree that there isn't any foot rating, than I shouldn't argue. (Nor should I have posted, but I just had to find some way to get into my profile the way you guys see it.)[/i]

DDRMAX:6th Mix was supposed to be the "starting over" mix. For example:
No repeat songs from AC versions.
No step ranking (accept for test version).
Groove radar added
Freeze Arrow added.
New BG's added
Charichtars Removed.

DDR Extreme still has groove radar, except it also has foot ratings. For good reason too.
"Blah, Bag has max chaos!!! Can't be any harder than Burning Heat, which has only slightly less!!!" Then they fail within 10 seconds of playing it on 1x, and go WTF |

DDRMAX: Dance Dance Revolution 6th Mix or the Japanese DDRMAX does not have a Foot Rating meter, it only has the Groove Radar.
DDRMAX: Dance Dance Revolution the American version has the Groove Radar and a Foot Rating meter.
I think it was taken out because it was new and they wanted to show it off.

While on that subject....the DDR-UK step files say that Bye Bye Baby Balloon is a cata on maniac (this is one of the songs that has ONLY appeared on DDR 6 and therefore never did get an official foot rating).
I've played it, and it doesn't seem quite THAT hard.... O.o
