Holy crap. After browsing some threads today and about 3 times, came across people calling it Sana "Molette", I did a search and theres 17 threads where it's called Sana Molette or Sana Mollette.

Where the hell are these people getting the L from? Duh.

There's no mistake. It's acceptable to translate an "r" in Japanese into an "l" in english, and just because the people at KOA decided to translate it one way doesn't mean it's right. WTF does Morette mean anyway? Is it even a word?

Chill out dude. The song isn't actually spelled out in letters. It's spelled out in katakana as "サナ・モレッテ・ネ・エンテ". The Japanese use R sounds in place of L's because there is no L in Japanese. When someone first romanized it (or put it into the English alphabet), the spelled it with an L, so that's what I use. And really, there's no "proper" romanization because I'm pretty sure the title doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean anything in Japanese that I know of, English, definitely not Spanish, so just relax. It's just a song title.

But it's not a mistake in translation. As people said, R's and L's are pretty much interchangeable in Japanese. When it first came out, most places I saw used the L. This site did for a while too, on the song lists. But then the US versions came out and they used the R, so we changed it. Either one is acceptable.

The L is also used in Beatmania, from what I hear.

Yeah, it shows up that way in Beatmania. And it's written in Katakana, so it's probably something in another language. The song has a distinctive Latin sound, so perhaps it's an approximation of some Spanish.
