Does replacement foam help with phantom steps? Or anything for that matter? I'm having my first double step problems with my ignition clone (topway). Also recently ordered hard cover to play with shoes maybe it will help? Otherwise I'm seeing people recommending plywood instead of foam.

To be honest, I'd just get another ignition-style pad. It is easier and cheaper in the long run to do so instead of wasting money modding.

Remove the foam completely and use thin hardcover pre-school books (under each square arrow area) instead.

thanks will try.
Today (b/f seeing this message) - i reasoned - it's usually (maybe always) the top arrow to phantom step, and I think a reason was the foam was depressed from use (plus age, I came back from a month long trip recently), and the cover wasn't so tight around the arrow, so I added pieces of plastic under the top arrow foam it cut down on phantom steps alot...

you can buy replacement foam from http://www.redoctane.com/ignition-insert.html $29.99

I would pay little bit more to buy complete ignition pad off ebay.

i find it hard to believe that there is absolutely no way to make the foam yourself. is it that hard to buy and cut out the foam pieces yourself?
