Hey Unknown Gamer, you may want to put a 56K warning on the thread title. Between all the screenshots, your avatar, and the four animated GIFs in your signature, loading this thread was more painful than a whack to the dick with a crowbar.
X
- As cute as Emi looks in that combo sidebar with that new outfit, it seems way the out of place in actual gameplay.
- Not big on Rage's new look.
- Afro, I used to look up to your sense of style. You're killing me here.
- Sweet, Time Hollow.
| Zonic wrote: | | Also, while I dig Emi's costume, the setting makes me think dirty thoughts. |
I hadn't thought of it before, but now that you mention it, my mind went straight to the gutter. I may have to try calling in a favor from an artist friend of mine.
Universe 3
- 400 customizable character options? I think I just crapped my pants.
- I hope that girl's one of the editable character possibilities. Not that she looks bad, but I wouldn't want to get rid of any of the existing characters in place of her, aside from Queen. Plus, it would give me a good idea what's customizable on an edit character.
- Lyrics? No thanks. I hope that's an option you can turn off.
- Glad to see the PERFECT and GREAT messages aren't as ginormous as they were in the last two games.
- So Quest Mode resembles Ultramix 4's Quest Mode. Hopefully, you can still access the shop at will, like in Universe 2. Randomly buying videos one at a time meant the only way I could beat most of UM4's Quest Mode was by playing Big Up or PSMO for almost every match.
- Less Than Three? Shit yeah.
- Oh Goddammit, Senses AGAIN?! That's four fucking XBox games in a row with that mediocre song! Who is JT.1UP blowing to get that turd into every game?
Hottest Party 2
No opinion. I haven't played the first one or heard its music, so I have literally nothing to base expectations off of. _________________

For once Konami had me sold on a Universe game, then I had to see "Your Angel - DM Ashura feat. kors k." in the trailer. *sigh* They always fuck this series up some how. -3-

It's a commemorative mix similar to EXTREME, boasts a PS2 home version, features a completely new theme/interface, features the same character models and cut-ins/dance floor concept used in the SuperNOVA series, and plays off the same in-game format that has evolved throughout arcade mixes (most notably the exact same appearance of the dance points meter and song/artist display at the bottom of the screen from SuperNOVA2). And finally, the DDRX trailer features, dare I say it, a person playing on an Arcade DDR machine. HP2 and Uni3's trailers do not, and we all know those two games will be console-only. | Well......now that you mention it, it MIGHT. But there's been no word on a new AC mix yet. Aside from SN2 in US, when has a DDR CS game ever come out BEFORE it's AC counterpart? |

Poseidon on a US Home Version this year. I expected it, but hell yes.
I kinda like the urban theme, being a city guy, but I hope they still continue the futuristic theme somewhat. _________________

Same here, but 'Less Than Three' is what killed it for me. Absolutely terrible.

Does anyone else hate the DDRX logo? Its terrible, IMO. It looks like something that would be used as a logo for a children's toy.

No kidding. I don't know why anyone at Konami would think that its a good enough song to put in four games in a row.
Anyways, I was thinking; with Karaoke Revolution and Rock Band getting downloadable content on a regular basis, I wonder if maybe Konami would think to offer us a new song pack for DDR Universe 3 on a regular basis. Whatever they do, I hope they don't make just one mega pack like with the first two games. Not only did they offer only 10 songs for the entire year before the next game in the series was announced, but those 10 songs were already on the disc, anyways. Its not cool to have to pay to unlock something that's already on the disc.
So, what do you guys think about that? I'm thinking maybe they could offer one or two old licensed songs per pack (come on, Strictly Business!), with the rest being KOs. If it works for KR and RB, I imagine it'd work for DDR Universe 3. _________________

less than three? are you frick me?
that said, universe 3s interface looks great. so clean and elegant, i really REALLY like it. reminds me a bit of pump it up NX only cleaner and sharper and HD.
i'm actually quite interested in universe 3. the new quest mode sounds interesting and i might have to pick uni3 up this winter. i always liked the ultramix games but i hated uni1, the 3 looks a lot better. lets hope its good.
hottest party 2, meh. michael jackson on the game is cool, ive always wanted some MJ in my dance games. if they have speed mods and make the songlist a little more exciting it could be alright. But really konami, the least you could do is mix up the fonts a little.
DDR X, lol. it's clearly just a modified SN2 and don't be suprised if this is the last PS2 DDR release we see. Konami isn't making any more PS2 arcade based mixes and the next mix will likely be running off of bemaniPC. I'll be avoiding this one, if i buy dance games nowadays they must at least offer SOMETHING new besides moar songs.
yeah, thats about it. pretty much could have predicted all the ddr releases this year. I still think Uni3 looks promising tho! |

DDRX is basically SuperNOVA3, but it's all good
Universe3 looks tripping, and it shows that Konami is going to use ITG content..dare I say ITG 12-13 footer songs in DDR? Lol~ _________________

What the hell is wrong with it? DM Ashura is pretty good and kors k is great. Sounds like an interesting collab to me...especially that its kors k, a long time bemani artist, and DM Ashura, a (not so much anymore) local underground artist getting some good publicity through ddr. _________________

Nothing wrong with kors k! His remix of Don't Stop was one of the only 3 I liked from Milestone. As for DM, I liken him to Slake, minus the talent and the ability to test my gag reflex. _________________

| I hope DDRX isn't going to just be a catch up release, with lots of tracks from the JP release (which I have.) I do like the new look of it. I'm sure I'll pick it up. It has to have some stuff not on the JP SN2 release.... |

So, should we start talking about what songs/revivals we're hoping for? Since I always buy the PS2 DDRs, my list will be for DDRX
From Extreme:
Across The Nightmare (Seriously, Konami STILL hasn't put this on CS yet?!)
Mahou no Tobira
White Lovers (...it's my warm-up song...)
Dance Dance Revolution (another "STILL NOT ON?!" song)
From Supernova:
Wookie Wookie
Golden Sky
Chikara
Soul Crash
From Supernova 2 (AKA the "obviously these should be on unless Konami wants to pull another SN2" list):
Trust
Giri Gili
Sunkiss Drop (BOTH.)
Blind Justice
Bloody Tears
Mars War 3
CaptivAte -Chikai-
Venus
From Xbox/360/songpacks:
Brilliant R.E.D (or the JPN version on BM 13 DistorteD, Deep Roar, would be better)
WWW.Blonde Girl
Himawari
.59 Remix
Chocolate Philosophy
Classic Party Triathlon (*SIIIGGHHH* I can't believe they editted out the awesome finale...)
Starmine
Guidecca (*insert censorship reference*)
Infinite (getting into the GF/DM & BM songs only from songpacks (or got reput on the 360 versions), so most of it will be songs you didn't know were on DDR)
Mad Blast
Battle Breaks
Get It All
Nemesis (reput on Uni2
Disabled the FLAW (One of my top choices. Also on Uni2)
Cosmic Cowgirl (reput on Uni2)
Jack & Mark Get Busy!

Don't forget "Destiny Lovers", "Last Message", and especially "Tears".
"Burnin' the Floor (Momo Mix)" would be nice, but I'm given to understand that it's technically a license, so...
And I know they're older than Extreme, but I'm also still waiting for Konami to finish out the Challenge-only remixes by giving us "Matsuri Japan (from the Nonstop Megamix)", "My Summer Love (Tommy's Smile Mix)", and "Still In My Heart (Momo Mix)". _________________

DanceDance Revolution: Hottest Party 2 (Wii)
Sequel to last year's hit, now with Mii support. Multiplayer modes that let you use the remote to shake up the other player's dance notes. Four decades of music including super-mainstream hits "Umbrellaâ and "We Got the Beat." We also heard them say MC Hammer and Pet Shop Boys were in there somewhere... |

PET SHOP BOYS?!! WHY?! & MC Hammer can only mean one thing.
Yeah, Destiny Lovers was on Ultramix 3 & Tears was on Ultramix 4.
Now that I think about it, SN2 only had revivals from Extreme, SN, the Xbox/360 games & what was on the JP versions (well, MOST...). SN was basically the same. Only EX, Xbox/360 games, & JP.
Now what about the Groove Radar songs? |

I knew they wouldn't let their 10th anniversary go by without some kind of big event...and while 3 new DDR titles isn't really a surprise, it's great news nonetheless.
As news trickles in over the next few days/weeks, might as well chime in with my 2 pennies worth on 'em:
DDR Hottest Party 2:
After the success of the first one, I'm not surprised by this one at all. The debate still is out there for which was better, DDRHP or DDRSN2 US. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed they'll be adding mods to this one for added difficulty, though the steps to some of the songs in the first one were difficult enough.
I'm REALLY hoping they'll use the actual artists for some of the licenses this time. Makes Me Wonder by Maroon 5 is (IMO) an EXCELLENT!!!! choice. One of my favorite songs from last year, and I hope they can make a good 7 footer outta this one...I say 7 only because I think that's reasonable instead of making it a BS 8 or 9. MC Hammer?....hmm, I'll give y'all ONE guess as to which song is making the cut...I'll give you a hint -- the fact that "MC" is in his name gives a clue. Umbrella?....um, not too thrilled on this one....would have preferred Shut Up And Drive, or even better from years ago Pon de Replay.
DDRX:
Not bothered with the title, though the logo does remind me of Mario Strikers Charged...just a wee bit.
70 songs again? Well, I'm sure we can pretty much subtract at least 17 songs that we know(?) will be on this one:
1. All the planet songs (hint Poseidon), MOONSTER, and SUNKiSS DROP, (that's 12 right there)
2. SOUL CRASH
3. TimeHollow
4. Taj He Spit
5. 30 Lives -- Broadjam 2008
6. Till The Lonely's Gone Broadjam 2008
That's just speculation, but I'd say it's an educated guess. My question now is what song will they use to replace STARS*** Re-tuned by HAL (DDR EDITION). My guess is the original STARS*** 2nd NAOKI's style, or maybe switch it up completely and revive THE EARTH LIGHT. I'm hoping they don't put in the gimmick challenge step songs. That just takes 6 song slots away and we'll have 23 so far. I know this is essentially a catch-up mix like EX2 was, so I'm expecting great things for this mix. Let's hope for some brand new and/or surprise KOs, and of course excellent licenses. Someone else mentioned something that does kinda leave a question mark over my head, too...like why haven't we received the last 3 ONI remix songs, not to mention songs we've been begging for on PS2 for a while like TEARS, Dance Dance Revolution, and PARANOiA ~Respect~. Just say NO to MAX.(period), kthxbye.
UNIVERSE3:
Guess I need to have a lil' more info on this one before I can make a full opinion on it. I do like how with almost each XBOX version, Konami revamps the songwheel. Having lyrics this time around is a nice added touch, and I'm sure like with 3rd Mix and the EU versions, we will be able to turn 'em off, so don't fret none. I was disappointed with UNIVERSE2, and the first one was a nice surprise, sans the hard as hell unlock system. Oh and Konami?...can we retire Senses?...I mean, c'mon now...WTH?!...seriously...
Oh well, here's looking forward to what else Konami will put outta their keisters. *fingers crossed*[/i] _________________
