So now, what is the reason exactly that you cannot reveal the names of the people involved? Is there something to hide?

Ugh, why cant ddr go back to what it used to be... a video game, back when no one gave a fuck about PA, and when there was actual dancable songs, instead all this fast techno crap, when there were no "tournaments".

This seems odd to me..We've had no problems throwing tourneys in the northwest, gaining sponsors when we decide some are necessary, and videotaping when we have access to cameras. If this does all work out, then cool, big east coast tourneys (and maybe further) are always a good thing (especially with videos). However, I am with Phrek, why would you have to hide your identities? Usually when trying to put together large events like these tournaments are made out to be, you want to have visible and competant people running these things, not a "mystery" person who will be revealed...that's not very professional (or even trustworthy imo). Okay guys, this is getting a little out of hand here. When other tournaments are being announced, no one is in a great rush to find out the names of every single person involved.

We're still going to have the Albany tournament. You may criticize us during and after the tournament. That would make more sense.

I can't type much because I'm in a rush to get to work. But we will have a public chat on this Friday from 6 to 7 PM (EST). This could maybe help to answer people's questions. The chat will have a link on our homepage.

I couldn't help but notice this on your main page:

Quote:
Urgent Notice!

Piracy Report

Lately there has been a large increase in the piracy of DDR arcade mixes. A pirate mix which goes by "DDR Megamix" is appearing in too high a number of arcades. The NDDRA works very hard to try to decrease the amount of DDR piracy.

You do know that technically, those "Japanese" DDR Extreme machines aren't supposed to be outside Japan in the first place without special permission (not that anyone really seems to care, but that is beside the point), yet I don't see anything in there about targeting all the bootleg DDREX machines while you are at it. Don't get me wrong, "DDR Megamix" is so bad (from the pics/vids I have seen) that it deserves to be wiped off the face of the Earth just for being that back a hack.

Also, I must also ask why do you feel the need to be so secretive about your "source"? There really is no need; this isn't sensitive corporate information that will bring down the game industry, unless of course all the winners of your tournaments are getting an Atari 2600 with the E.T. game cartridge or something.

I noticed in the rules for your iron man competition that after a tie in the ironman competition...

n the event of a tie, the players will play Legend Road Oni course.
The song list will be The Legend of Max, Max 300, Max Unlimited, Paranoia Survivor Max (Heavy),
and Paranoia Survivor Max (Oni), in this particular order.

WTF?????? This is the dumbest rule I've ever seen in my LIFE. This wouldn't be a stamina test... this would be "The first person to fall over and DIE because they are wearing the ankle weights loses" No wonder people were getting injuries during your ironman, as far as I know no one in the world has yet to complete legend road anyways.

Why not answer the questions here instead? Such as, who are you people?

Doubtful considering there's no real userbase at their site. At the moment I see a group of people with a vision to run events. But I don't see their logic in doing it yet. This is way too sercetive without a reason for it.

Laf, this is the biggest load of BS I have read in a while. A national DDR association.. that wont tell people who leads it, who the members are, how they plan to do things to support their ludacrous ideas. Enjoy failure.

You're making this sound way more mysterious than it is. I agree with you about the "vision" thing, but it'd make no sense for them to come here and use this as their Q&A forum, when they've already set up their own website, on which I'm sure they'd love to get tons of hits, to help show potential investors the interest and viability of their venture.

Could be, but since they're not reaching into your pockets (just yet), why not show a little courtesy on the chance that these guys are actually trying to do something positive for the community?

I don't see a Q&A forum, PM me the link.

I said they had a website they'd probably like to attract hits to, not that they had Q&A forum on it. If you're going to quote me, don't do it in partial context and add your own punctuation in order to make it look like I said something I didn't.

No, I quote the text that I am refering to, to save space when reading. Not to make you say things you didn't.

I misread the end of the section I quoted, that's what happened.

hmmm...this is a good idea but i think it's gonna flop. There's just too much stuff that people aren't sure about with the NDDRA. But I've got some questions to ask before I become interested. First, why are your members so secretive? I mean if you wanna be a big national DDR thing then people are gonna have to know who you are anyway. Second, are you going to run state competitions in every state? Oh and who are some of sponsors? I think you should try and get some big name companies to sponsor you like Red Octane (they sponsor stuff don't they?)

I like this idea. Ok I live in Canada, but still.

btw, yes someone did complete Legend Road. I just want to point out that the order is wrong though, and it's not PSM, it's sakura.

Maybe i'm missing the point here... but why ankle weights? Is AAA songs becoming too standard nowadays that you need to make it more difficult?

Also, I kinda find it interesting that you place particular emphasis on 1st and 2nd generation players when DDR didn't really make a huge impact on the East Coast til probably about 3rd-4th Mix.
