I've noticed that some mods will post in topics and tell people that they belong in X forum, but then instead of moving the topics they'll lock them. This personally has happened to me, and I've seen quite a few topics pop up in different places where the mods posted things like "This belongs in DDR Gameplay!" and then just locked the topics. Is there a reason for this?

You answered your own question in a round-about way. You post a topic in the wrong forum. We lock the topic. You see the explanation. Now you know where to post that topic (and similar topics) in the future.

If we just move them there is no incentive for members to figure out where the right forum is, and we really don't feel like being maids/butlers that run around putting everything in it's place anyway.

no, theres no reason for it. the mods here are hell bent on making your visit to ddrfreak most unpleasurable. theres nothing we can do about it.

anyways, they do it so you can see where to put the NEW thread. if they just move it, you might notice your thread is gone and make a new one in the same place incorrectly. this way, you AND everyone else can learn from this for future proper thread postage.

Thanks for repeating what evn said?

Anyways, we used to do it, but the problem got worse, not better for reasons already mentioned.

Locked.

We can't spend all of our time moving topics around. It's difficult enough to maintain order as it is. Locking topics is quick, easy, and sends a message to the poster that they need to more carefully consider where they place messages.
