Arcade Box TX-2000: Product Link N/A
MSRP: N/A (~$299)

This is a 3rd party pad sold on eBay and other small Internet shops. Arcade Box is listed as the manufacturer, but they have no Internet presence, so I'm taking the specs/details from one of the random sellers on eBay:

* 12 mm Wooden Base (Industry first) combines with stainless steel frame to provide virtually unbreakable and unbendable construction.
* Plexiglas Panel can withhold weights up to 500 lbs
* Extra Strip of metal is added on to the inner edge of the frame to improve overall performance
* One Screw per panel design to provide easy maintenance and future upgrade of the panels.
* Super Heavy Duty, can handle player weight up to 500 LBS
* 'Touch Sensitive Technology' excellent response from buttons
* 0% noise level, no noise when jumping on arrows
* You can wear shoes to play on Metal Pad
* Platform will work on carpet or hard floor.
* The entire platform frame is metal 3" Thick, NON SLIP Wooden Bottom, and it will never break
* Weights about 70 lbs
* Dimensions: 33.0 inches x 37 inches
* All sides and middle are reinforced with Stainless Steel plates and brackets
* Power is taken directly from the Playstation, Playstation 2.

i got 2 of these on ebay for 400 bux, only problem is using the ps2/xbox control boxes with usb adapters (they reset to default button mapping mid song) but when used on a consol they work perfectly.

I think it 'looks' okay. But that could be just it. I mean, it's thick. I'm thinking thick = sturdy. That may not be true in this case, but its something to consider. I'd rather the pad be thicker/taller anyway. What's really shady to me is the $150 price tag. That seems very cheap which causes me to be suspect on it's quality.

ok, a friend of mine has this pad (a slightly different version with octagonal brackets instead of round, but it's the same pad) and he says that the pad feels really close to the arcade. the only problem is the plexiglass is very cheap and needs to be replaced or it will crack. other than that, the pad seems to work alright. it may also have to do with him being a hardcore PAer, weighing 200lbs and being a hard stepper at times, so your experience could vary with the pad. but from what he's told me it is much more like the arcade than a CF or RO metal pad is.

No, they're not god awful. They're worse. That is, if it's just a modified TX-1000 with a bar. It's thick, yes, but stepping on it, it fills very hollow. (I talked about the TX-1000... broken in a day.)

I have one in the mail from here:
http://keepgaming.com/ddr.htm

How sturdy is the bar? Can you sit on it, mayhaps?

The bar looks like it can break at any second. Oh and it's basically the TX-1000 with a bar.

I own one of these pads, and they really arent that bad. At first i had buyers remorse because i thought it was cheap, and would break in a day, but I have been playing on it nonstop , and it is more reliable than I thought. You cant just bash it because you looked at a picture and decided that it "looks like a cheap ebay pad" and therefore it is god awful. It may not be able to withstand being run over by trucks, like the cobalt flux, but it still works fine. It has hit every time i have stepped on it. Though its not exactly like the arcad, and not constructed extreemly well, I am surprised that it is as sturdy as it is. The bar is kinda wobbly, but i did max300, and NEEDED to use it, so i put all my weight on it and it seemed to handle it fine.

I bash it because I played on a TX-1000, which broke within a day, and I'm not lead to believe that the TX-2000 is any sturdier.

I want one of these because I abuse the bar, and I'm used to playing with a loose bar. The problem is that Play Asia absolutely refuses to ship outside of the EU and Lik-Sang wants $300+ dollars for it, which I should have after selling my CF and Ignition pads. And the keep gaming link looks to be the cheapest, but shady. I'm almost to the point of dropping my CF in a box and installing a bar on it

You can pick them up on ebay for cheap, like 300bucks a pair. Just hit ebay and search for tx-2000
