My Ignition Pads

I found my ignition pads, when I pulled them out of the ps2, I guess they got a little loose and didnt even give my pad power... So then I opened to get at the circuit board. I took my old PsOne controller and cut the cord, sripped it, then soldered each colour coded to the corresponding colour on the circuit board, pluged it in, and it doesnt even get power. I thought that should have worked... Can someone tell me how I can get them working if its possible?
