JDogg, just PM the script to people. Like me, for instance ;-).

It's linked on this site's front page. Just download and run it.

Oh, I think Cat was talking about a script that will work on unix/linux. Anyway, I PMed a perl script to Cat anyway. I didn't want to publish that one because it's a bit "transparent" and easy to change the game you want to vote for (don't want those Halo fans getting a hold of it =p).

From the looks of it now, it looks like DDR is once again gaining some ground.

Actually, I e-mailed MTV a few hours ago. Nothing to do with the poll exactly, but more so on getting better coverage about the game. Much better than the CBS job did. What I am hoping for is for one of the shows featured here, to notice our fan-base here with over 32000 users. And to possibly show one of us DDR players actually speak about the game.

Although this headline with us flooding the poll... I wonder if that's a positive thing, or a negative thing. Hmm...

Was looking through the source code of the poll page and figured out the letter assigning
http://polling.mtv.com/servlet/viewsflash?pollstat=r&cmd=tally&pollid=uvg_poll&results=servererror.html&question=f
you should see some random letters with votes and %. In the HTML source
there is a letter corrisponding to each game a a-p or something. DDR is F
Halo is ironicly H. Basicly, the letter is straight forward. First selection A, secound selection B and so on. So , looking at the error page, alot of activity
is going on on the Halo voting (thanks to their script). Now granted, I think
scripts like that are lame, but this is MTV we're talking about which is twice
as lame now. So anything goes. Just passing on the info I figured out
Update : Ironicly, the only two games seeing the most activity are DDR and Halo. Looks like its DDR Geeks vs. Halo Script Kiddies for dominence in probably the only time MTV will ever have its polling system decoded and scripted for massive voting (Wonder if MTV will change its polling system after this)

Just looked at it for a second time...

DAMN... E11.gif

f= 86%
h=14%

all others= 1% (no votes)

Way to go guys! Keep it up! DDR might actually win this! E4.gif

Wow, sweet this site is up already!

First - I just wanted to inform you all that they interviewed me for their coverage for this special "IF" DDR wins. They only told me that DDR has to win in order to film what they taped, but they filmed for two days at my apartment near Seattle (with me, my boyfriend, and Team Seattle).

So no worries about getting proper representation for your fan base XD

Code:
Could not open disk file /www/w3-l/polls/mtv/servererror.html ;
Using built-in report instead

Results for poll: uvg_poll. 91 responses
question
   f: 85 votes, 93 %
   h: 6 votes, 7 %

OK that's the results from the link 2 posts up as of 05:03PM PST 11/11/03

My question is why does it say there's only 91 votes?
Well at least we are creaming Halo.

EDIT:Nevermind. I guess that votes for that moment. Oh well. But checking it a few times it looks like we're averaging 9 vote to halo's 1. So even if we were behind we probably aren't now and will be WAY ahead of them by tomorrow.

LOKI, that is a quick peak at what the poll got within a 5 second (or so) time frame.

But yes, overall, we are winning by a lot it looks like. Just keep refreshing to get an idea of the flow of votes we are generating. I have an entire classroom that we don't use anymore (I work for a small company ISP) and I have 4 copies of the program running on each of the 20 machines.

This is what i think.

I think a popular website like lets say yahoo.com should have the same exact poll mtv has except the votes will be viewable since yahoo is visted WAY more than mtv is.When MTV announces "their choice" of the winner just send them the results from yahoo's poll and sent it to alot of websites saying how MTV are a bunch of pricks and they deserve to be killed.

Just my .02 cents

It appears that the poll is up and running again. I'm going to start running the program again just to help make sure DDR does get the #1 or #2 spot.

I'd almost feel ashamed if ddr gets it, because obviously ddr is not the most popular game of the decade.

Well honestly... did YOU really do that much work... no... You just downloaded a thingy that voted for you and well there you go. The person that did all the work was the person that made the voting thingy mabob so dont complain. Maybe when there were more votes cast then people living in the whole world they thought something might have went wrong laugh.gif .
Second off I can care less what MTV has to say... I hate MTV... Fuse is better laugh.gif
