Since we have a simulator-specific board, I'd like to re-iterate our policy for simulator files.

The policy is: Linking to sim-files is accepted. However, linking to licensed MP3s for the sim-files is NOT -- and will result in punishment according to the forum policies. So, discuss the sim-files all you want, just not their music. Of course, this only applies to licensed/copyrighted tracks. Music you have made yourself is of course, allowed. E1.gif

Please post here with any questions regarding this policy.

What about ddruk? That has the steps and the mp3s. What do we do then? Are we allowed to link to sites like that?

It's a little bit more complicated (and, admittedly, silly) than that.

The thing we want to avoid is people going "You can get MP3s here". Explicitly asking for or pointing to where there are MP3s are what garner you points.

So:

GOOD: "You can get the DWI at www.wherever.com", regardless of whether or not there's an MP3 attached
BAD: "You can get the DWI and MP3 at www.badpartoftheinternet.com"

Make any sense?

He's basically saying this, do not make direct posts to MP3 files, or do not say you can get my DWI file and MP3 here. Just say this you can get my dwi file at: www.whereever.com

You'll never find DWIs at www.wherever.com. It's a website that 3 architects made. laugh.gif

What's the policy regarding other "rips" from game disks, such as graphics. For example, would it be against site policy to ask for oni banners for DDRMAX USA? I'm just curious considering the FAQ and Rampage's post only mention MP3s.

That thread should answer the question. But to get to the point:

rampage in that thread wrote:
Sites are being linked to that have in-game rips of material that is Konami's intellectual property. This constitutes piracy and is not allowed here.

Okay, it makes sense and definitely understandable. I just noticed the removed links from the other topic regarding background movies.

Where can I ask for skins? I don't want to use up bandwidth by asking in the wrong place.
