AHH!!!! TOO MUCH ELECTRONIC TALK!!! BRAIN HURTS!!!! ACK!!!!

yeah....all this complicated talk about lighting is makin me not want lights anymore.

oh one question: since all of the designs suggest adding only two push buttons for start and select on the top right or top left panels of the pad I'm assuming that you guys don't really care about adding a cancel button (triangle)?

I built an Xbox version. I've already added "A" and B" buttons. I WILL be adding "START" and "BACK" buttons next week. The wires are ran, I just have to drill the holes and mod my buttons to fit.

Click the link in my signature and scroll to the bottom of the page to see pics of my buttons.

One of my friends just hooked me up with this pad, the bottom is all ripped up so its worthless, but i was gonna use it for the controll box. I hooked it up to my computer, and it wont let me hit (left and right) or (up and down) is this my computer or is there a chance that this cheap piece, just doesnt work? Its a intec pad.

oh yeah and i posted a few days ago about the metal for the non-arrow panels. Did i get the right kind of metal, i mean i dont want to have a rusty pad.

Well, change of plans on my design. I was at my dad's, and we were thinking, and looking, and we ran across Ultramix and a Beat Pad (not pro, couldn't find it, but that's what we were looking for).. So we decided to rip up a Beat Pad, and buy a copy of Ultramix (This is better in many ways for me, and more convenient)..

My dad is going to finish the soldering and drop it off tomorrow or Tuesday night. (We had a lot to do this weekend, so we couldn't finish it)

I'll let you know how it works.

moonmen0:

the control box should be fine to use, its probably your computer adapter that wont let you hit l/r or u/d.

galvanized metal it perfect for the contacts, it conducts well. and it probably won't rust unless you leave it outside for years (i mean, they make buckets out of it)

your problem is common. you simply have an adaptor that cant deal with two buttons on the same axis (up/down or left/right) being preesed at once. You need a unique converter, of which there are few types. they are sold at www.levelsix.com

one more thing about the converter. make sure you read its featutes and it specifically says that it is dance mat compatable. In fact, just get the EMS USB controller adaptor. works fine and 2 mats go in one usb port.

i think that i might be the pad, cause i built a working paralel port adapter. But in the setup, i set it up for no axis, to buttons, and when i hit the left arrow it registers and lights up on the screen to tell me that is the button its assigned to, but when i hit left and right it switched to another button (the one for the right) and only that one registeded, up and down and left and right do that , all the aother combinations work

ehmm...

id try using it on a playstation. if you cant play with it on a regular console, then that would definitely be the pad. just get another soft pad from amazon for $10 or something.

also, can you hit left/up? or right/down? if so, then it may still be your computer thinking it's an axis and not buttons.

Damn cool pad man, good job! The idea of using the softpad's circuit case as the control box was really good...I haven't seen that before! \\

And the black just freakin' rocks, man!
