Name: Kevin Nakakihara
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Town/City: Temecula, CA (SCRUBTOWN, WE SUCK, I KNOW, I SET US UP FOR IT)
Favorite DDR Machine Location: The Third Planet, Tochigi
Favorite DDR song: Don't have one.
Favorite DDR version: Supernova 2

Were you inclined to dancing before you played DDR?
No.

If yes, how long have you been engaging in dancing?
No.

How did you find out about Dance Dance Revolution?

Knotts.

How long have you been playing DDR?

7 years.

What is your primary motivation for playing DDR?

Self-satisfaction of all kinds.

What benefits are there for playing DDR?

There's gotta' be a inverse correlation between time spent playing DDR in an arcade and levels of self-conscientiousness.

What features of DDR do you like most?

Music, accessibility, reasonably fun community, doesn't have a tendency to make any stupid changes.

What role does DDR have in your life?

Hobby, decent memories.

What do you see as the advantages or disadvantages of DDR in your life?

Advantages - It's like the 90s, except it isn't quite gone yet. Still fun to play.

Disadvantages - Like any game that you invest in, it's a game that you chuck a lot of time and effort in, but delivers remarkably crappy rewards in the long run.

Why do you like to play DDR in this specific location?

1. Joint Premium.
2. E-card reader.
3. Supernova2 had a fresh-game smell.
4. It's a fancy Japanese arcade. It dripped with awesome.
5. Not Temecula.

I'm really tired of these, but I'll answer later once I feel like it.

Here you go:
Name: Jake
Gender: Male
Age: 18 and 11 months
Town/City: Spokane, WA
Favorite DDR Machine Location: I play ITG at Wonderland
Favorite DDR song: Dam Dariram. Currently for R21 is Crazy Loop
Favorite DDR version: 8th

Were you inclined to dancing before you played DDR?
No

If yes, how long have you been engaging in dancing?

How did you find out about Dance Dance Revolution?
I saw it at an arcade and then asked for it for christmas.

How long have you been playing DDR?
4 years about

What is your primary motivation for playing DDR?
The crowds, the fact I can have the spot light of attention for once; not the football or basketball jocks or Obama and his stimulus crap.

What benefits are there for playing DDR?
Exercise and more usage of the brain.

What features of DDR do you like most?
The diversity. It always expands. If it weren't for r21, ITG, or stepmania, DDR would be pretty mechanical (or the same).

What role does DDR have in your life?
Nothing really anymore

What do you see as the advantages or disadvantages of DDR in your life?
If you aren't careful this game can destroy and hinder your life. It hindered mine. Still single and less popular.

Why do you like to play DDR in this specific location?
The only place that almost decently takes care of their machine.

My friend Bailey about 6 or 7 years ago

How long have you been playing DDR?
I've been playing consistently for 4 years

What is your primary motivation for playing DDR?
To get AAA's and have fun

What benefits are there for playing DDR?
It never gets old and is always fun, if you play competitively, it helps with timing/ rhythm, it's good exercise, and I guess some people use it to lose weight

What features of DDR do you like most?
The addicting game play in general, and the timing

What role does DDR have in your life?
I love it and I'll never stop playing. I play as much as I can

What do you see as the advantages or disadvantages of DDR in your life?
advantages- it's really fun and good for me

Name: Mac
Gender: Male
Age: 16 and 8 months
Town/City: Auburn/Puyallup, WA
Favorite DDR Machine Location: Daffodil Bowl, Puyallup, WA
Favorite DDR song: Max 300
Favorite DDR version: Extreme

Were you inclined to dancing before you played DDR?
No. Quite opposed, actually.

If yes, how long have you been engaging in dancing?
N/A

How did you find out about Dance Dance Revolution?
A local arcade got a Pump it Up machine, started playing on that. A year after, another arcade got a DDR USA cab.

How long have you been playing DDR?
July of 2000 - started playing PIU
Dec of 2001 - started playing DDR

What is your primary motivation for playing DDR?
The music, friends, the challenge presented, and the show-off factor E15.gif.

What benefits are there for playing DDR?
Exercise is the primary one - I know it's helped with stamina.
Requires that you focus, and increases coordination.
Suppose you could use it for weight loss.

What features of DDR do you like most?
Speed mods and additional difficulty levels.

What role does DDR have in your life?
At the moment? Very little. Most local machines have been in a state of disrepair and the fanbase is near nonexistent.

Over a lifetime? A huge role - it's still my favorite game, and it gave me something I could be good at (helped with self confidence).

What do you see as the advantages or disadvantages of DDR in your life?
Advantages - got me out of the house and exercising, introduced me to dance and several genres of music.

Disadvantages - the disappointments with Konami and the deteriorating fanbase.

Why do you like to play DDR in this specific location?
Daffodil Bowl -
Masterman (the owner of the machine, as far as I know) keeps the machine in top condition. It's the only consistent machine I've ever played on. Aside from that, it's in a small arcade room where no one really goes, and the air-conditioning's cranked during the hotter days of summer.

You know what? Sure.

Name: Charles
Gender: male
Age: 22
Town/City: Warwick, NY, USA
Favorite DDR Machine Location: Cyberstation, Galleria Mall, Middletown, NY
Favorite DDR song: Love<3Shine (it's pretty easy but it's so cute and fun!)
Favorite DDR version: home version = Ultramix 2; arcade version = SuperNova

Were you inclined to dancing before you played DDR?
Nope! Unless you count moshing at metal concerts.

If yes, how long have you been engaging in dancing?
...I don't think you should count moshing at metal concerts.

How did you find out about Dance Dance Revolution?
I had read about it in a gaming magazine but I first physically saw it when a friend got it for Playstaion.

How long have you been playing DDR?
I first started playing seriously in 2003 but I have had lots of downtime since then.

What is your primary motivation for playing DDR?
It is so much fun!

What benefits are there for playing DDR?
Well, it seems to be good exercise -- I imagine it's good for my heart? I assume my legs have become like lightning fast rebar compaired to most folks?

What features of DDR do you like most?
ummm.... different characters?

What role does DDR have in your life?
I try to play every day at home. Sometimes I'll play in the arcade though.

What do you see as the advantages or disadvantages of DDR in your life?
Well the advantage would be that it's fun and is probably pretty healthy. Plus I get some bragging rights?
The biggest disadvantage is that I get all sweaty after playing a lot. Which is kind of gross.

Why do you like to play DDR in this specific location?
In the arcade? It is the nearest location I know of... actually it's the ONLY location I know of.

5 years

What is your primary motivation for playing DDR?
It's an addictive video game.

What benefits are there for playing DDR?
A lot of health benefits.

What features of DDR do you like most?
The amount of content there is to cover. After mastering Expert/Challenge steps on singles, you can try to tackle them all over again on doubles. Then you can try nonstop and challenge courses on singles and doubles.

What role does DDR have in your life?
Right now, mostly entertainment and exercise.

What do you see as the advantages or disadvantages of DDR in your life?
Disadvantage is definitely the cost. It takes about $60 a month from my wallet.

Why do you like to play DDR in this specific location?
It's the only place that has Supernova 2 and I've made quite a few friends here.
