So I'm here at work listening to some classic DDR music (B4U, Boys, Dub-I-Dub, etc) and I was just thinking how awesome it would be if Konami released a version of their game with all the DDR classics. I'd imagine it to have the newer graphics and mods that're available on the recent generation games, but I was thinking how cool it'd be to have the songlist consist of completely pre-6th mix songs. Then, to make it even sweeter, they could offer new remixed versions of some of those old songs.

Sigh, that would be awesome.

You better be prepared to play those songs on x1 and not AA unless you FC.

Also, no Max for you. You will have to settle with Drop Out if you want some speed on your arrows.

I used to make more challenging stepcharts for these classic games.

I did Colors (not a classic)
Do It All Night
Cat's Eye

Fun stuff.

You know although not in the way we know them now, one of the Solo mixes had a form of speed mod, right?

The biggest barrier to that is probably nothing technical.

But rather, licencing agreements.

Seriously, that's your idea of "classic"?

Max 2 was an awesome mix, but it doesn't have Boys, Hero, Dub-I-Dub, Boom Boom Dollar, Moonlight Shadow, Neverending Story...I could go on for a while, but hopefully you get the point.

i was being sarcastic because your primary requests (besides "all pre-6th mix songs") were:

-newer graphics and mods that're available on the recent generation games
-some classic DDR music (since that was the first mix since 4th to have old-mix revivals)
-offer new remixed versions of some of those old songs

i am occasionally retarded but not so retarded to regard max2 as "classic"--although, at this point, it WAS released 6 years ago so maybe it should be considered classic, haha

I love how DDR Best-Hits just makes this dream even more impossible. They did a recompilation of the classics when DDR was burn, burn, burn the wood, burn-ing.

Licensing is probably the main culprit, aye.

Oh god... DDR is almost 11 years old.

Has it really been that long?

DDR Solo 2000 had Slow, Fast, and Special within the menu that was accessible using the arrow step code for the menu.

Slow arrows were slower than the normal rate, Fast arrows were faster than the Normal rate, and Special was very similar to what is called Boost in the later versions of DDR. Reverse was also available just by pressing the green Start button (and pressing the Start button once again reverted back to normal scrolling).

I just have to say that I think a "Classic Mix" would be a pretty fantastic idea..

The have these neat things called "PSOnes" now, that along with a PS-X-Change, can make that sort of thing happen.

A couple other things you might look up:

M.A.M.E. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator; now supports DDR through 5th Mix, and Solo)

DDR Party Collection (Japan PS2)

DDR EXTREME and EXTREME 2 (USA PS2)

DDR ULTRAMIX 2 and 3 (USA X-Box) <-Surprisingly old-school! E1.gif

That is just one of the songs I like and would love to play E13.gif Should such a game utilize the new scale introduced by X?

You know what song I would love to see again? Shock, from Goofy. It was the very first song that showed up on 3rd Mix Korean Ver. 2.

I freakin' loved that song, but I haven't heard it in years, I can't find it anywhere on the internet.
