Has anyone ever used the USB slots on PS2? Was wondering if a USB midi keyboard would work if I just plugged it into one of the usb slots. And if it would be compatible with Keyboardmania for PS2.

Thanks.

for the original game you need the konami keyboard (which is USB)

but for Keyboardmania II there are a few MIDI keyboards that are compatible most of which are Yamaha brand, I do not know a complete list of what works or not

I have the Konami Official Controller. I'm assuming any USB keyboard will work but some will have problems.

Instruction manual was confusing, but finally figured it out. Needs a USB MIDI Interface (any brand, but game refers YAMAHA). With USB MIDI Interface, such as Yamaha UX16 (or similar product), you'll be able to use most sythesizers, electronic keyboards, ect;

Plug the interface into the PS2 USB slot, then connect the MIDI-IN cable into any keyboard. MIDI-OUT does not need to be used.

The thing is that most USA sold keyboards come with a USB cable. I tried a $99.99 M-AUDIO midi keyboard and the game does not recognize it. I'll have to try YAMAHA to see if it'll recognize it. But, ouch, YAMAHA keyboards are huge and expensive an the UX16 USB MIDI Interface cable is $49.99USD.

In the end, might be just easier and cheaper to buy an official controller or build one. :lol:

Thanks, and I'm out.
