Hello. Which Guitar Hero for the PS2 do you guys think is the best? I'm thinking about buying one.

Uh, there's only 3 out right now (4th being GH3). 80's got bashed cuz it's $50 for a reskin of GH2 (80's Style) w/ only 30-ish songs.

Of the current three (Guitar Hero I, Guitar Hero II, and Guitar Hero Encore Rock The 80s), GUITAR HER II is the best one, so far, followed by Guitar Hero Encore Rock The 80s and then Guitar Hero I.

But I would wait until October 27, 2007, to get Guitar Hero III for the PS2...Just suggesting!...

guitar hero 1 was a much better game than rock the 80's. rock the 80's had a really mediocre songlist compared to 1. but yeah i'd agree, 2's the best.

I've played them all.

3 made some changes to the basic formula. It is a good game, but while some songs are great, others are better to listen to then play.

The main difference from a players point of view other than the battles is that hammer ons and pulloffs are manually placed into the song charts. no matter how close or far the notes are apart, if ti sounds like a slide or ho/po in the song, the game will let you do it, and if it doesn't sound like one it won't. They are easier to see, though.

I think 1 has the best song list still, but 2 has the better engine, and is a more balanced game.

I'd rank them

3 (barely, and that's on the strength of the large songlist)
1 (beats out 2 cuz it has better songs)
2

but the rankings are pretty close.

Go for 3 or 2. 3 for the technical improvements, or 2 for the songlist.
