Is it DDR or ITG?

What time? Are you sure it's June 8th (Friday)?

Did they ever unlock the DDR machine or what?

Hrm... Tempting, since I only live 10 minutes away. I might have to work on that day, though.

Yeah, the time is the big question mark for me, what with working my boringass 9-to-5 (Actually, I quite like my job, but the fact remains I don't think they'll appreciate my blowing it off for a DDR tourney. E10.gif).

I called and they told me it was on either the 16th or the 18th (hopefully 16th) at 12:00 so i don't know what to believe unless I actually went there myself and saw a flyer or talked to somebody in person.

ugh

The 16th works far better for me, heh.

And how's the 2P on the DDR nowadays? Last time I actually went and got to play (Back in March), I thought it was pretty okay (The 1P side was totally shot, though).

I'll probably go, hopefully it's ITG but I'll play whatever. Only downside is that I bet there is a small turnout considering this is in CT.

Even if a tourny doesn't happen I'll probably show up anyway just to go play and check out that arcade.

Continuing my "must make every other post in the topic" streak, I'm probably gonna take a trip up to Trumbull tomorrow (Sunday) to play and see if I can't get any more info on this. And see if the Extreme's unlocked, and if not, maybe get them to do so.

EDIT: Tournament is Saturday at Noon. Pad conditions are pretty much the same as before.

Cool I should be there. By same as before you mean...? I'm gonna assume poor. Also it's definitely DDR not ITG right?

Thanks for going to check it out btw.

DDR: 2P is fine, 1P is unplayable IMO, though from briefly watching others play, they had a bit more success with it. I'm guessing it's just the innermost sensors that are shot on the right arrow in particular; I couldn't make it work at all.

ITG: 2P is fine here too (I guess I caught it on a "good" day). 1P seemed fine as well, though I'll admit I didn't play on it enough (a set of some easier Double stuff, and that was it) to really reach a definite conclusion.

By the way, there's actually people already signed up (10-12 or so including myself). Amazing, huh?

And yes, definitely DDR.

Wow... way more than I expected, but that's good.

Hopefully they do something about the pad or only let one person play at a time if it really is that bad.

Thanks for the update, should be a fun time.

One person at a time will make it take a very long time unless they decide to just make everyone play the same songs every round and then rank based on number of Perfects or whatever.

Well, if it's this Saturday and I can get the car, I'll show up. I fully expect to get stuck on 1P and get creamed. Or be forced to play a million 10-footers. and suffer a heart attack. Woo!

Looking at the rules, which may or may not have been original (<Joke from another site>Credit: rajah.com</Joke from another site>), it sounds like one or multiple songs will be played by everyone for at least the first round. Note that said rules also said they'd fix up the pads before the tournament, so take it with a grain of salt.

Either way, though, it should be a fun time. I'm not exactly sure about the level of competition, though. From the people I've seen there, one guy is far and away better than anyone else (92.20 on Go 60 Go Expert as a reference, and his reaction to it seemed to indicate he can do better), but I'm not sure he's even entered (He vastly prefers ITG to DDR). There's another person there who's at about my level (Passing some of the easier 11s with a crap score), and after that...I'm not really sure.

But like I said, it should be fun, and I figure if I bomb out early I can always migrate to the ITG or even the Beatmania.

Speaking from experience, during tournaments which are held on not-so-great pads it's usually best to just hang out and have fun rather than get caught up in the competition aspect.

I'm dreading the inevitable pad-miss arguments already.

Wow, I totally forgot that a GBTA bus stops on my corner every hour and goes straight to the Trumbull Mall. I'm definitely coming tomorrow. Should be fun! I haven't been to a DDR tournament since the one in Danbury Fair Mall back in Summer '02. Good ol' MAX2.

If there are, it'll be okay as long as they're entertaining.

I'm not even gonna care if it happens to me once or twice, unless it's a pad completely sticking or dying on me.

Agreed. And don't forget Dance Maniax 2nd Mix in the corner, all by its lonesome.
