Haha, DancingTofu's right.

A CF is a matter of life and death! (You didn't know? E19.gif )

Thanks for the headsup, guys.

Its finally happened, my cobault flux has started to die. Iv had it for about 2 years and now its starting to give be Pad Almosts and Misses all the fricken time. Iv tried cleaning TWICE it but that didnt help at all.

So now im thinking about getting a BlueShark
( http://www.mymybox.com/ddrmbsgxg365.html )
This one really excites me because it says it uses the same type of sensors that the arcade pads use. So, REALLY sensitive ( I hope ). But before I buy one I want to know if anyone else has had any problems with it. Sticking arrows, pad misses, etc. So if anyone could comment that would be great.

BlueSharks are great pads, but be aware that if there are problems with it, MMB will probably ignore you.

for the first time in 3 months, i went to the arcade today, and i realized that i really don't like arcade pads. A Blueshark is pretty much out of the picture for now. unless CF gets their act together, i'm just gonna deal with my modded softpads. (which have stopped hating me lately for some reason <3)

My friend owns an afterburner but he's only 130lbs so it's not really a great test for its durability. He enjoys it alot though. CF has been having CS problems lately so I don't recommend ordering from them now. MyMyBox has been having some terrible CS as well (BBB gave them an F...) but the Blue shark is a great pad. You could also wait for DT to release some of their pads if time isn't an issue for you.

The just about covers all the bases.

The CF's have have more actual pad problems than the BlueSharks. But the BlueSharks tend to get really whacky with shipping, especially with them shipping CB's separately now.

The AfterBurner has never been an amazing pad on the large scale, but occasionally you'll find one that's lasted more than a week, and those are pretty good.

Well, i would be getting my pad for my birthday (this june) if that matters...

i think im going to go with the afterburner, because it is a good price for my parents (they laughed when they saw the 400 dollar pricetag for a blueshark) and the thing i really like about this one is that i can use it on both my systems, and it says that i can ship it back and get a new one for sure if something goes wrong with it

and ive heard of redoctane... (im new to the whole DDR metal pad scene)

for that matter, offtopic but i really just play and dont know all the special lingo biggrin.gif

Come to think of it, I've heard very few complaints about RO's CS.

If it's got a warranty, and they have good service, I'd say go for it.

Hey all, I'm a noob here and hope I can get some advice on buying a pad. (This is the correct thread, I hope riiight.gif ) I have done some research, and think that for my price range, a foam pad would be best. I'm looking at getting two, preferrably a bundle with a game. If not, at least a pad that I can use both on my PS2 and computer. Xbox connectivity would be nice too, but not necessary since I don't own one. I play standard and am working my way to heavy, and my boyfriend plays 7-8 footers. Anyway, here's what I've looked at so far.

http://store.ddruniverse.com/dapadeen.html
This was the first pad that caught my eye. Then, somewhere on this site, I read that the USB connectivity dies out within days. I haven't heard much else about it though, and that makes me think it's not such a smart decision.

http://www.redoctane.com/ddrsn-2igpad.html
I originally got this link from the "Purchase DDR" link found on this site. At a lower price and a more recognizable name, I thought this to be a better choice. Then I came to the forum and read the thread detailing the flaws. Is it really as bad as everyone says it is? If I take the risk and buy it, could I get lucky and get lasting pads?

http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDRSN-DX2/
I heard some people like this one and some don't. It looks to be even cheaper than the Red Octane Ignition. But it looks like BuyNShop provides a shorter warranty than RO, and will charge me shipping.

Please help me out! I'd really appreciate your input and suggestions.

The RedOctane ignitions are the best foampads (as most view them at least)
but i've never played on a decent foampad, so idk.

i would actually reccomend modding a softpad instead. you can get any DDR bundle (includes konami softpad) which i hear are pretty good. DDR Bundles are usually around $60

OR... for the same price, you can get the In The Groove Bundle. it comes with 2 pads and i swear that you will not find a better softpad. period. (these are hard to find though)
But since you're a noob, i guess you probably haven't played ITG yet. E15.gif

you could mod 2 GameStop softpads on the same piece of plywood and play double.

The pad I play on is a modded konami softpad that I modded out of the box and has lasted 3 years now. I don't play as often as many of the members here so I doubt it would last anywhere as long for them as it does for me but it has survived quite a bit of 10s and a few ITG 11s. I agree with not getting the ignition pad; my cousin own a V3 red octane one and at 190lbs I sink into the pad and can't move across it anywhere near as close as I can on my wood modded soft pad.

Whats wrong with you guys. Mymybox is a barely legit company run by people that don't know how to run a business properly.
-They WONT respond to you
-You can't get cash refunds if you dont like your product
-Chances are that they will keep your product if you send it back for a new one
-They speak engrish
-They haven't answered their phone in months
-They have tons broken or useless links on their website
-THEIR PADS ARENT LIKE THE ARCADE
-They have very poor craftsmanship
-THEY LIE ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS
-Overpriced products

You agree just because you sink into it? I don't think that would be a problem for me, I'm 120lbs and my boyfriend is 160lbs. Or are there other reasons I shouldn't buy it? I'm getting conflicting opinions here. The thread says that they're crap, but someone here said they're the best on the market.

...as far as foam pads go, the Ignition is considered the best, that doesn't mean it's excellent though.
IMO:
unmodded softpad<foampad<modded softpad<decent metal pad

You should have gone with the 6-month warranty.

1. Cheaper
2. If it works for the first 6 months, you're good to go for years.
3. You'd be free to mod it any way you want after 6 months with no risks.

my only beef with the cobalt flux or metal pads in general is the fact that you can't really play barefoot with them. i hate making stomping noises E10.gif
