That's really a half arcade game half Gameplay forum thread. I wanted people to post people getting AAAs in the arcade (even though I actually didn't put "in the arcade").

Man, those moderators are losers! Somehow, I feel like I'm the only normal person on this website. *Starts fight over again, but moderators can't lock this thread, because this is what it's about* *Moderator comes up with another excuse to lock it* *I get really angry, but can't post again, so leave for another 6 months* *Then, moderator says, "We're probably better off without you here due to all of the meaningless topics you've created* *Wants to virtually punch moderator laugh.gif * *Has really and truly had it with internet forums* disgust.gif *Almost hopes to be kicked out for good now laugh.gif laugh.gif *

There's already a thread for your topic.
It doesn't matter if it was arcade specific, because the thread is all encompassing and already exists.
Probably already has the video you're looking for too.

Yes - I have the issue that everyone on these forums have issues! At least I don't hang around my computer all day, and stay up until 5am forum-writing. blink.gif *AA Bob rushes over because it says there's a new post in "Site Feedback" laugh.gif *

No, you have the issue that you're unable to do anything other than piss and moan about your threads getting locked.

Actually, you're pretty much right - I get pissed off whenever a thread is locked, and I get *really* pissed off when a Mod (which shouldn't be capitalized!) says some stupid sarcastic remark and locks the topic. I also hate how people say "this belongs there", or "there's been this topic before", etc. Not that anyone here cares, but I've showed these forums to family members/friends, and they agree that it's rediculous how some of the responses/rules are. It's not so much the rules, it's just that everyone cares about the rules so much that it becomes rediculous, and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Quite frankly, I don't know why I'm putting so much thought into this. This is going to be a never-ending argument if I keep posting fighting about this. P.S. - has there ever been a thread made on DDR Freak that's similar to mine, in terms of thinking the rules are too strict, etc.? I would be surprised if I'm the only one. Then again, the only people who stay on DDR Freak seem to be immature, which is why I'm thinking of leaving.

I can't believe this needs to be explained to you again, but there is a reason that we have the different sub-forums. If all the dance game discussion was tossed into one board, it would be a chaotic orgy of posting. With the sub-forums, it makes it scores easier to find discussion relevant to what you're looking for. Now, if somebody posts a thread in Chit-Chat called, for example, "What are some arcade stories you have?", it is likely that it will be locked and the OP pointed in the direction of the stickied thread about the same subject in DDR Arcade games. This is because it is pointless for there to be 2 threads on different sub-forums about the exact same thing. It centralizes discussion and keeps the boards cleaner to boot. I forget the amount of register users here, but IIRC it's well over 50000. Granted, a lot of them don't post here anymore (and some have never posted at all lol), but there's still a pretty large amount of people to deal with, and you should keep in mind that this website is where a LOT of these people are getting their first message board experience (yours truly included, back in 2003 biggrin.gif ). These boards would be total chaos if there was no enforcement of proper thread placement. Think of it as a necessary evil for maintaining a large message board.

Pretty much, if it's a worthless thread, it will get locked with a good reason, and if it is in the wrong place, it can be remade in the appropriate forum (or it already exists there). If it's not worth the effort of reposting in the appropriate sub-forum, then you may want to reconsider whether or not it is worth anybody else's time to post in.

Also, I laughed at the thought that you are devil.gif SO ANGRY devil.gif about the locking of threads that you had to have your friends and family validate your misplaced frustration.

I know I'm paying too much attention to every aspect, but I noticed you didn't cover/admit the fact that Moderators sometimes are rude, and sometimes say very sarcastic (I'm so sick of that word!) remarks (that one also! lol), which makes them total idiots. They could easily just lock the fucking topic without putting me down in some way. *Wants to break the seriousness of this fight* Also, I like how you put "SO ANGRY".

I'm going to use very big letters here because you don't seem to understand this:
If you don't like this site, you're free to leave.
But if complaining about how much you dislike the way things work here floats your boat, by all means continue. Just don't be surprised when your endless complaining doesn't change a thing. People have explained to you over and over why things are the way they are on this site, and all you ever say in reply is some form of "well yeah, but it's dumb". And I guess that's probably because if you tried to thoroughly explain how changing DDRFreak's rules would make the site better, you'd realize that the current rules are necessary to keep such a large site from being completely chaotic.

Just for the record, there are plenty of forums out there whose rules are more strict than DDRFreak's. I'm talking about rules like "use proper spelling and grammar or we'll delete your posts" and "you will be banned if you sign up with a name that resembles a moderator's name".

Requesting examples.

Take this for what you will...

I'll admit to it. I've made a few snappy and/or sarcastic comments to people, usually when they've behaved in a childish manner. Someone once told me that you act like a child, you get treated like one in return. Also, sarcasm doesn't imply idiocy, as your sentence has basically said.

Also, I don't speak for the rest of the mods but to be honest even though we are a specific group within the community (User, Contributor, Basic User, Trick User, Moderator, etc if you were to be anal about it), I definitely don't bother with whether you capitalize "mod" (I believe you mentioned that a little while back).

Not here to flame up, just want to let you know what I think.

It's all about organization.

AAA's are accomplishments and therefore are designated in the Gameplay forum. There is a thread existing in the Gameplay forum currently specifically for videos.

And you go post this thread in the DDR Arcade forum, thinking that it will stay open? And then you come here to complain that I locked your thread because you didn't realize there was a better place?

Those people you are showing these forums too might have a similar mindframe as you do, in thinking that a web forum doesn't need this sort of organization. Thinking something along the lines of - "Hey, I want to talk about DDR let's just stick the topic in DDR Chit-Chat".

This web forum is one of the largest on the internet, and putting all the DDR topics under one subheading is suicide. Which is the reason things are split into subforums and be regulated on certain criteria. Gameplay encompasses accomplishments, tips, and after-effect (injuries etc) as posted in the announcement at the top of the forum.

If you aren't sure where the topic should go, ask a forum moderator.

As for the remarks, sometimes we have bad days, sometimes we want to liven things up, and sometimes I can't explain why. I try to be respectful when moderating here but on the other hand, we are all human.

So, I take it we're going to have this discussion bumped back up every four months or so whenever one of Crunchwrap's topics get locked and he gets pissy about it? laugh.gif

Probably, since he ended up coming back before.

Crunchwrap, you have to understand that sarcasm and irony are very much a part of these forums and getting used to it is a must.

Also, nobody answered me about this: Has anyone ever made a thread similar to this one - meaning they're sick of the rules, sarcasm, etc.? If so, could you link me to that thread, because I want to see how it went. laugh.gif

AA Bob - here's one example of the mods being a pain (although this is really a mild example): http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=125447&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 Those are the times they take advantage and make you frustrated knowing you can't post again because it's locked. Also, since I forgot my username AND password (and lost the paper that had both), I was thinking earlier that I should just "log-out" and do a favor for myself (yes, I know - and you guys) and never be able to come back again unless I create a new account (which would never happen). *Just* a thought, though. laugh.gif

Mods really don't act any different than the majority of DDRFreak users.

Crunchwrap,

If you think the rules here are strict, check these out:

http://www.somethingawful.com/d/forum-rules/forum-rules.php

Forums accounts at SA cost 10 bucks. If you're banned and want back on, you have to pony up the 10 bucks again. If you're being minor annoyance, they'll strip your ability to post for an amount of time ranging from 1 hour to 3 months.

If you're being stupid but not breaking any rules, ANYONE else can pay 10 bucks to change your custom title to something along these lines:

WAAAAH I'M A CRYBABY WHO THINKS FREEDOM OF SPEECH APPLIES ON A MESSAGE BOARD, ALSO PENIS.

This thread and your subsequent replies to moderators would have earned you several bannings at 10 dollars a piece...If not a permaban.

These boards are lax in comparison, learn to love it.

Wow, you're letting yourself get worked up over that? He wasn't taking advantage of you. He actually had some good points, and if defending your position is that big of a deal to you, PM him.

Even if the mods do try to get on your nerves, why should it bother you? For someone who says "I don't take these forums seriously", you sure take the mods' comments awfully seriously.

Edit: In fact, I challenge you to show us how unseriously you take this site: don't ever post in this thread again. After all, it shouldn't matter, because you aren't the slightest bit serious about DDRFreak. Right?
