I'm having some problems with connections to my control box

Alright so I own a metal pad. (No not one of those fancy cobult fluxes, but one of those $165 common mats)
It looks like this (Very similar, they're all the same anyways I think)

Alright so one day I found out that nothing would respond when I put on the ps2. The start buttons or select or none of the arrows work. Well my dad disconnected the mat from the control box (Leaving the control box connected) and figured out it was the control box.
This problem has happened earlier, my dad soldering one of the wires and it working fine...until a week went by. >.> So I'm looking to you guys for help.
My dad resoldered all the wires in the control box anyways, it's still not working. Do we need to get a new one or can this be fixed?

We also tried to plug it in the player two side, that idea failing haha. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

well, congratulations, you unfortunately purchased one of the most crappiest pads available to the public. a tx-1000. anyways, have you taken the panels off to check if the sensors are dirty? are all of the wires connected to the sensor? and is the foil tape making contact with the sensor?

if its dirty, just wipe it off with a rag and try the pad again.

it may not be all the control boxes fault.
so if it is a control box problem, im pretty sure you find yourself another control box for your pad.and maybe its an internal pad problem.

well yes, thats true. any pad can become good, with the correct modifications

Actually my dad and I poked around and he thought of connecting the wires of the pad to a hand held controller, replacing the control box with that. It seems to work really good so far. Thanks for your suggestions though. =)

That should work fine. If it doesn't though, I doubt they'd cost too much to replace. I'd say probably worth no more than about $5-$10 apiece.
