Im trying to do research on pads and whatnot before i buy DDR itself. I live in an apartment and im not sure wether to buy a metal pad or a soft one. Im also trying to figure out if buying pads off Ebay is a smart idea...
The one question i have is about the noise level, when im stampping my feet, will the tenants below me hear the loud thuds? Are the metal pads just better, compared to the cheap plastic one? |

flat softpad:
sounds like jumping on the floor
plays for crap unless you mod like this http://silentaftermath.com/justin/CT20
Hard foam Insert/Ignition type:
a little softer sounding than flat pad
plays fair, I dont know how to mod this.
TX series pad:
fine in socks, pretty loud in shoes
they break within 3 months unless you mod
heres my mod http://silentaftermath.com/justin/CT2000
(IM me for pictures of inside the arrow)
Overall the biggest bang for the buck is a flat softpad with the mod I have linked my pics to. Its the cheapest and its still the pad I get the best scores on, plus you can play shoes or socks in it. |

I'm trying the mod softpad route, specifically the method in PitterPanda's FAQ. I bought one of those Gamestop pads, but it already seems like the down arrow is gone. Will I have better look with one of the Naki pads? |
