:/
Reading the last few posts made me frustrated enough to actually use this account to post.

There are two ways for people to have already played on the Afterburner Pad:
They work for Red Octane. Yes, workers of Red Octane do come here, but they can put their job on the line by revealing a bunch of info.
They went to the ITG launch party that just took place in San Francisco last Wednesday night. Pictures can be found on Orange Lounge's picture gallery.

Edit: And judging from the pictures on Orange Lounge, this pad is looking very sleek and sexy.

Nobody that went to the launch party said very much about the Afterburner Pad or the ITG home version yet--either they're still not sober enough to use the Internet or they are under some kind of solemn oath.

As for the pads. I only played on the Afterburners they had setup while I was there, but they had sent me review copies of both the new Ignitions and Official In The Groove home pads and I can honestly say that each of these pads raises the bar for thier respective line of products. The Afterburners are SOLID, I know there was alot of skeptecism over the recessed arrows, but they're really nice. The brackets are bolted down and are not flimsy at all, the arrows are all really responsive. Overall I'd recommend this pad to anyone looking for a metal pad. The price you're paying for this pad's quality is a steal. And they took alot of abuse tonight and didn't see any real problems. The only open complaint I have about them is that the control boxes aren't really made to securely stay in the pad while playing, but only one of them came loose over the course of the night, and I'm pretty sure that it was because someone snagged the cord.

yessssssss

WHAT is going to be for early june? I don't get it. His post is edited.

However, did anyone notice that today the afterburner page has changed?

It now says:

Availability: Pre-Order: Usually ships in 5-7 business days.

Go to http://www.redoctane.com/redoctanemetalpad.html and see for yourself E1.gif

Woo hoo! So I'm a bit perplexed - it still says preorder, but now it says ships in 5-7 days.

I put in my order last night. I can't wait to get a real pad!

I noticed this today. I think it will be here this week. Or maybe that is just wishful thinking. I say this week or next, no later. Just my speculation. Y else would they change it to say 5-7 business days.

*hint*keep checking your order tracking *hint*
but it still says the order cant be found.

I think it'll ship sometime in May and when it does arrive, it'll take 5 to 7 days for them to ship it out.

But seriously, all other things aside, I too am still anxiously waiting for my Afterburner to ship. I just couldnt wait any longer to start playing at home so I went out and picked up one of those $20 Pelican Gamestop pads and duct taped it down to a sheet of partical board cut to size. That should hold me over for a month until the Afterburner arrives.

I havnt got my fliptop swap magic modded PS2 yet, but I'll be getting it on tuesday when I get paid. When I get it I'll be sure to find the thread for that softpad and give it a quick review. So I can be sure to tell everyone what a peice of crap it is laugh.gif

Oh well... such things will have to suffice until the Afterburner arrives

That's correct. It'll start shipping sooner rather than later in the month.

http://www.redoctane.com/redoctanemetalpad.html

It now says 2-3 days. Does this mean my pad arrives in 2-3 days or they begin shipping them in 2-3 days?

I don't know. My tracking number still yields "shipment not found"... although my order is stored on red octane, DHL does not have a shipping number for it.

I am so close to getting an A on Drop Out! (Light). My cheap pad just can't get the timing close enough... I can't wait for this thing to show up so I can finally A that song. E10.gif

That means that when they are in stock, it'll take them 2-3 days to ship it out to you.

Shipping to the west coast was 47$ and some change for 3 day select.

If you did ground, it went up to about 54$ some....

Probably costs more for the east coast.

Yeah I did ground shipping and it was $61. Wish they'd hurry up. I'm getting impatient.

Okay, so it looks like the Afterburner is now released and available for purchase on the RedOctane website. I'm new to DDR and would like to get a metal pad. I had my eye set on the Afterburner before I realized that shipping will add $50 onto the price (I thought their free shipping offer covered metal pads, which it doesn't).

So now I'm left with the decision of getting a TX-3000 ("tournament edition", no bar) off of ebay for around $195 shipped or an RO Afterburner from RedOctane.com for around $250 shipped. I want a pad that will last the longest and if it breaks I'd like to be able to modify it to work again (that's the only thing that worries me about the TX-3000). I know that few people have tried out either pad, but does anyone have a suggestion either way for which pad looks the most reliable? The RO warranty doesn't mean much, as I'd rather fix a pad myself than pay $50 shipping to have RO send me another broken one.
