Pretty much any USB works.

Also, since you usually post in the DFW thread, and assuming you played at Valley View, the machine at times does that when it will give everyone's USB a card mount error if it's been on for an extended period of time. If that happens, reset the machine and it should take care of it.

as for naming it, u can just do that on the computer once ur folder has been created on ur card (should take effect normally after one game with your usb in the machine) .. there's going to be a file called Editable (it's a .ini file) ..double click on it and u should see these options:

[Editable]
DisplayName=
LastUsedHighScoreName=
WeightPounds=

so example if i were to make it, i would do this :

[Editable]
DisplayName=XSoulDreamX
LastUsedHighScoreName=Soul
WeightPounds=143

Also, the display name can only hold 12 characters if i recall correctly.

hope it helps E1.gif

Resetting it: Flip the switch in the bottom left corner in the back.
USBs: Not all USBs work on ITG machines. I'm not sure which ones work and which ones don't though, so you might have to do some research. All I know is that I have a 2 gig Kingston and it works fine.
Naming: Once the machine successfully accepts your USB you you can plug your USB into your computer and edit some stuff. Just open the file called Editable.ini in your In The Groove 2 folder and there is some stuff you can edit. Pretty simple.

It being compatible with linux has nothing to do with it (and there's no such thing as "linux 2.0")

As long as it supports USB 1.1 then it should work fine. I think there might be a few USBs out there that support 2.0 and don't have backwards support for 1.1.

This was a useful read.

My local arcade removed the Supernova machine and put in a ItG2 machine, so, oh well.

There is Linux 2.0, but ITG doesn't use it. It uses Linux 2.4.

Is it me, or is my local arcade ripping people off?

$3 for 3 songs for ItG2, $2 if you're a VIP member.

Ouch...yes that is a major rip. I don't think I've seen anything over a dollar. You should hack it and just play for a dollar...or free E10.gif

Yep, that is a rip-off. A dollar a song??! Sure makes the $1.25 for four songs of ITG2 (when I first started playing) at the Megaplay in Mishawaka, IN seem cheap! It drops to $1.00 if you put a $5 or larger bill in the token machine, and 91 cents if you put in a $20 bill. And now it's 5 songs. (Game is 5 tokens, 4 tokens for $1.00, 25 tokens for $5.00, 110 tokens for $20.00)

And at the extreme cheap end, the DDR Extreme at Putt-Putt in Mishawaka is only 43 cents for 3 songs with the token deals, and 37.5 cents on Sundays! (Game is 3 tokens, $10 for 70 tokens, $10 for 80 tokens on Sundays)

Well it's a tad lower now. $2 for non VIP, $1.90 for VIP.

I'm quoting NZ currency, BTW.

But still, man, that's pricey stuff. Even for ItG2.

New Zealand currency? $1 NZ is only $0.5773 US at the moment. So that makes:

$2 NZ = $1.15 US = $0.385 US per song
$1.90 NZ = $1.10 US = $0.366 US per song

My own arcade put it back at 4 songs, and has a new card system with the opportunity to become a VIP, so it's now:

5 credits for 4 songs = $1.25 with the worst deals = $0.3125 per song.
4.5 credits for 4 songs as a VIP = $1.125 with the worst deals = $0.281 per song.

So your prices are still high, but thankfully they're not an absolute ripoff like $1.00 US per song ($1.732 NZ per song).

I suppose.

But the life difficulty is set a bit high too.

Blah.

I noticed ITG gets tweaked around a lot more than DDR by the arcade owners.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet (I only looked at the first couple pages) but how do you flat foot? I've looked on forums but most of the time they're just talking about how cheap it is. I know it involves a different foot placement but I don't know any more than that.

Also, I just started playing ITG, and right now I'm at around an 8-9 Hard level, where I can "S" on some of the 8s (Delirum, Utopia, Anubis). Is that good enough to begin starting Expert level?
