A few sad songs that I think will most likely make some sensitive listeners cry are as follows:

Yeah, I totally think Delirium and Utopia are sad songs........

Seriously, most ITG stuff is ubeat and energetic.........that seems pretty happy to me. Happy doesn't need to relegate itself to major key or a certain speed you know.

I don't understand how anyone could see Soapy Bubble, Pandy, or Tough Enough as even remotely sad.

I love alot of the ITG songs and some strike me as both sad and happy depending on the mood. Like Tough Enough seems like a spirit booster but at the same time kind of sad....in the encouragment area anyway. I dunno what I'm talking about : x

Happy Songs

Da Root (Folk Mix)
Little Kitty Mine
Bumblebee
Fleadh
Zodiac
Land of the Rising Sun
Typical Tropical

Unhappy/sad Songs

Dont promise me
Dont promise me -Happiness Reflection Theory-
Life of A Butterfly
Drifting Away
Queen of Light
Fly Away
Birdie

Between~

Why Me
Tough Enough
Anubis

Pandemonium seems sad to me mostly because of the synth chords in the middle. It seems like an "end of the world," or "devolving into chaos" sort of thing. Just the way my mind interprets it.

Tough Enough is open to interpretation, as well. The lyrics seems to say "You're gonna have trouble, so you better show some backbone." Once again, though, I can totally understand if someone else doesn't see it my way.

Tough Enough is in a minor key, I think (I haven't played it in quite a while, so correct me if I'm wrong), so you could make a case for it being a "sad" song.

Anyway, my favorite sad song in ITG is probably Don't Promise Me.

What's all this nonsense about "sad"? A song being in a minor key doesn't make it sad, it makes it in a minor key. If anything, the aforementioned "sad" songs are just serious, or deep (see: Hand of Time). Sad songs are slow and somber, and there's nothing like that in ITG.

This is actually more of a discussion of upbeat versus serious.

Upbeat

Euphoria
Renaissance
This Is Rock & Roll
Sunshine

Serious

Hand of Time
Bloodrush
Destiny (gray area)
Dawn

Destiny dosen't have a gray area - and ITG dosen't have any sad songs.

Then how is it possible for Amore to not have a sad melody/vocals?

Minor Key + Melodic =/= sad. Of course, sad depends on the listener. I guess if you've hardly ever listened to real sad music before, you'd find Amore sad, but that just means you have a real loose concept on what "sad" is. However considering some of the stuff I listen to outside of ITG, Amore is nothing, and I'm not talking about cheesy emo crap.

Minor does not necessarily mean sad and major does not necessarily mean happy.

This thread isn't the most musically intelligent thread I've seen in my years.

Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 by Franz Liszt (The song Bugs Bunny plays that's really fast on Looney Tunes if you're not familiar with classical titles) is a perfect example of a minor happy song.

Oh, and death metal is predominantly major key. It's just low and screamed.

Therefore minor does not mean sad and major does not mean happy. It really goes down to it makes you feel if you want to discuss emotions, there is not a true formula musically for happy or sad.

I personally don't think any ITG songs are sad, maybe borderline melancholy beauty (Amore), but not truly "sad".

ITG couldn't get away with making a sad song. It just doesnt fit their cookie cutter. Maybe "Emotional" but not sad.

But this thread is going to have many different responses as some musical passages envoke happy or sad memories in life. Music. Its Relative.

Example Zodiac:the Beginning would be, in my eyes, fresh, new, and fun. as it progressess it mecomes slightly challenging, then it hits the mid-point (the part with very odd cant-tell-if-there-gallops-or-what) and it becomes Feared, immortal, unthinkable, scary. and then i fail Now whenever i play it again, from the beginning its scary because i remember the passage.

but thats just me.
