Maybe not in songs, but think of the amount of people who get tattoos of kanji without really having any idea about what it means.

Which comedian was it that picked on that trend? I think it was something along the lines of...

"Oh man, that's an awesome tattoo!"
"Thanks, you like it!"
"Yeah, it's cool! What's it mean?"
"It means love and water!"

(Not a word-for-word quote.)

Maybe not Japanese, but sometimes other languages.

I would have argued the same point a little while ago, but believe it or not, I've been hearing American pop songs that throw about random Japanese words randomly. Three examples off the top of my head:

In Missy Elliot's "Get Ur Freak On" (her spelling, not mine! D:), towards the end of the song you hear a random "Ichi ni san shi!", which is Japanese for "1,2,3,4!". In Madonna's, "Sorry", there's a breakdown where she just starts saying "sorry" in random languages, including Japanese. I was so confused when I heard "gomen nasai" come out of nowhere in that song. Those 2 aren't so bad. Then there's... Gwen Stefani. For a while, it seemed like she was using the phrase "super kawaii" ("super cute") and/or "Harajuku girls" (Harajuku is a district in Tokyo known for fashion) in every one of her songs.

Also, Freezepop, more known for their material in Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution, and other Harmonix games, has an entire song in Japanese called "Tenisu no Boifurendo" or "Tennis Boyfriend".

Oh yeah, on the subject of bad Chinese/Japanese tattoos: http://hanzismatter.com/
This blog is dedicated to pictures of nonsense Chinese and Japanese calligraphy (mostly tattoos) and saying what they actually mean. One guy on there has a tattoo that translates to "Stop woman flow"... ?!

Japanese is a pretty sweet language.

I mean, "Smash Bros." translates to "Sumasshu Burazāzu". How awesome is that?

Make sure the volume of your voice increases in intensity while you say a phrase in Japanese.

Sumasshu Burazāzu!!

qft
You do realize that's a fact (and not an opinion), right?

And he quoted it to emphasize truthfulness. What's the problem?

That's not how QFT is used.

Let's consult the UrbanDictionary to highlight the interesting paradox about the usage of QFT in forums.

UrbanDictionary.com wrote:

1. Quoted for Truth
Has the same usage as Quoted for Emphasis (QFE)

2. Quit Fucking Talking
Sometimes casues confusion as it has the same abbreviation as something that means the exact opposite.

1. "The world is full of willing people, some willing to work, the rest willing to let them."
"QFT bro."

2. "I'LL FUCK YOU UP BCUZ I'M PRO."
"QFT you scrub bitch."

So, to sum up, whenever you see QFT, it could either mean that they completely agree with the quoted passage, or they completely disagree. This naturally leads me to simply disregard all posts containing a QFT because it leads to headaches in terms of figuring out what the poster meant, unless they -and some people ACTUALLY do this- say something constructive about the comment outside an arbitrary and contradictory acronym.

Something is true when it's fact. The Earth is round; that is fact, and that is true. Quoting a fact for truthfulness is therefore using the acronym correctly.

Really, for opinion, QFE should be used rather than QFT.

Apoc, I've never seen someone use QFT intending to tell someone to quit fucking talking.

QFT, just saying "QFT" can get you a point.

QFT, learn the rules.
