What's all this nonsense about "sad"? A song being in a minor key doesn't make it sad, it makes it in a minor key.

I don't think anyone here is saying that being in a minor key automatically makes a song sad. It's just that if you're trying to figure out whether a song sounds sad or not, knowing whether it's minor or major is often a good place to start.

Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 by Franz Liszt (The song Bugs Bunny plays that's really fast on Looney Tunes if you're not familiar with classical titles) is a perfect example of a minor happy song.

Eh...maybe. If you're talking about the Lassan, then I mostly disagree - it sounds pretty somber to me. In the Friska, I guess you could say that some of the minor sections are a little happy-sounding, but they're nowhere near as happy-sounding as the major sections (at least to me).

I still stand by my answer from a few days ago: Don't Promise Me sounds pretty sad to me.

So um, is it bad that awhile ago I was watching Family Guy, and when Quagmire came on, I thought something to the effect of "Whoa, It's AA Bob!" (I don't remember if the exact thought was "It's AA Bob" or "It's AA Bob's avatar", but I don't think it matters in this case)?

Not always. There are a few sad songs that are in a major key. Even though it's a good place to start, that doesn't mean it's the deciding factor.

I also mentioned that because some songs aren't happy, doesn't mean they default to "sad", because there are other emotions than just those two. If you get a death metal song, you could categorize that as "angry" music if you wanted.

"Angry" songs in ITG would be most songs by Inspector K.
