Edits on my local extreme?

Yeah, I know it's an old machine, but question.
I've got Dancing stage Party mix (konamix from europe) and was wondering if I could use it to make some edits for my local extreme.
If it will work, how would I go about doing it?
Do I just load up a fresh (ps1) memory card with the game data on it, create and edit, save it and it'll work, or is it more complicated than that?
