Ok here goes. A friend of mine gave me a metal ddr pad, but there was a catch. It didnt' work. Well certain buttons. I knew it was broken, but I figured I could find a way to fix it.

I did find out whats wrong with it, its just fixing part I'm having a bit of trouble with. I belive that there is some thing wrong the wires leadin from the sensors.

So, I figured that I would just take an old dualshock, take the cord and run wires from the cord to the proper sensors.

Problem is, the wires in the dualshock are not labeled. Can anyone help me? I'll even take an alternative way of fixing it if someone has one.

search the forums or just google

there are plenty of diagrams for the dualshock...and if i remember correctly, dualshock's suck to try to actually work

anyway, just search around, i know i've seen at least 2 or 3 different things before

Dude, I'm almost sure it's just a broken wire. Just find the broken spot on the wire and solder it.

here's an update. I took the thing apart to check the wires. None of them are broken.

I also took them off the non working sensors and and attached them to the working up arrow (removing the up arrow wires) to test them and I got no response so I guess the wires aren't working.

So, I need new wires, but I dont know where the problem is. It could be at in the cord that connects to the box. Thats why I wanted to replace the whole wire set up with a new set up. Any help?

It might just be a bad CB. You can probably get a new one pretty cheap.

A CB is a Control Box, like the Printed Circuit Board (the green thingy) on the Dualshock.

Lets see a picture of the pad, ore try to find it on the internet. I can bet you you have some crappy TX, Ninja, Blade, or other generic crap.

I dont really have acces to a digital camera at the moment, maybe tomorrow. I cant tell you guys tha its is a ion pad.

Also, I have a soft pad (the cheap ones from gamestop) could I use the wiring from that?

Also, I tried using the forum search, but I couldn't make heads or tales of what it was giving me.

It would be really good to know what model you have so we could know if you have a generic chip or a specialised chip. If you have a generic chip, than you can seriously probably just get a new CB for $5, and it'll all be fixed. If not, you'll have to either take your Control Box apart and fix it or completely rewire the circuitry of the pad.

Sounds like a TX4000. How thick is it? Does it have a bar, or more likely, a place where a bar broke off many years ago?

No, theres no place for a bar at all. The end of the cord looks like a vga connection and connects into a box, but I'm sure that doesn't help.

Well, here is one, but it's kind of expensive.

This is a cool looking HomeBrew CB, but you'd probably have to build it yourself.

You can also try looking around here for others.

Hope that helps. =)
