Konami Style sold them, and they needed a minimum of 500 preorders.
They are never going to be made, ever again, they where sold years ago and DDR is dead in japan.

Besides, Americans cant take anything from Konamistyle because they only ship to japan residences.

I honestly dont think this topic needs to be opend, but it needs a sticky (unless someone goes up and says OMG I HAVE ONE).

Paramount X- Like Tomo_kun and CoasterKrazy said, you can't. The DDR Arcade Style Controller (ASC) was sold back in the days of 2nd and 3rd Mix, I believe. They don't make them anymore, period. And even if you wanted to preorder one back when they were accepting them, the ASC's price was probably far more than you're willing to pay. The price on them was 198,000 yen, or about $1700 US (no, I didn't make any typos here. o_O) from what I remember of the exchange rates at the time. Besides being prohibitively expensive, you'd need some kind of special arrangement with someone living in Japan to get the pad because Konamistyle doesn't ship to America. Years ago, I saw one on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, but the auction disappeared soon after it opened. On top of all that, there are only 500 or so of these pads in existence. To add a bit to Curtriss's quote about the likelihood of getting one, your chances of getting one of these are about as good as being hit by lightning twice in the same spot while holding a winning lotto ticket.

NOW NOW NOW it makes sense. Konami doesn't ship to USA and DDR got boring in japan so no one would preoder them. See I didn't know that they did ship to USa. I though t they did because of the konami products I see.

paramount, you cant "preorder" them, they where distributed for a limited amount of time a few years ago, there isnt anyone who sells them nowadays, nor anyone who will be selling them, (which is why you cant "preorder") basically unless you know someone who owns one of these, your never gonna see one, touch one, let alone play on one

I wouldn't buy one ever if they were selling them now. That's idiodically expensive. I could get like really nice speakers, 2 CF's, arcade style mod kit, DDR games, a Modded PS2 all for under the price of ONE of those.....wow Konami.....wow.

Ok here is a little story that might make things a little clearer.
Once apon a time a very long time ago, Konami thought that they would release an expensive arcade style pad for playstation. The only problem was that because they were so expensive they didnt want to make lots and lots of them costing them lots and lots of money only to find no-one wanted to buy one E19.gif But luckily they had an idea riiight.gif what if they got a whole lot of people to order them first. So they spread the word and soon about 500 people had ordered and put a deposite on a shiny new pad. laugh.gif Konami then when about making the 500 or so pads and once they were made they distributed them to everyone who had ordered one. They made lots and lots of money and didn't have lots and lots of expensive pads left over. The didnt make or sell anymore because everyone who wanted one had already ordered it. They lived happily ever after.

PeaceOut E1.gif

But think about it, if you did get one, you would prolly have the worlds best play at home mat and it would be as close to the arcade as you could get.

I wouldn't mind one... if it was priced the same amount as a Flux drool.gif

This is just an arcade pad sized down for home use. It IS the arcade experiance. Screw the boxes that said "Re-create the arcade experiance". If they really wanted that, they'd make more of these..... But what Xerox said is very true.

I think RoXor/Andamiro should make ASC's....HOT SHIT!

EDIT::

You know what's really sad? I beat AT LEAST 100-200 of the people who own these don't even use it and it sits in their closet.....I mean here we are in America where DDR is at it's peak and ITG, 2 games that could use this pad well yet there are those in Japan who probably just let it collect dust. It may be a little off topic here but....I just cant believe that people get tired of things so quickly. One day something is great..The next its not to be heard of. If I like something. I like it for what it is. Not for the moment its in. Im 33 and i hope im still playing DDR or Stepmania untill I die. Its possible. I still play lots of old school games!.... erm.gif

*Goes poking around the site that kyj197 posted* Hmm, Mymybox has redesigned their site. What's this? The "Blueshark" pad? Sounds an awful lot like "Bluespark"... Oh man, this is rich! The "Blueshark" metal pad has a list price of $700, is on sale for $0 (free?), and is "Coming soon 9-25-2005" but is "in stock" and "usually ships the same business day"! LOL!

soo...This blueshark LOOKS like its built more like an arcade controller (sensors and proper screw/bracket placement), but the question....Will it be another MyMyFailure? 250 bucks for a pad that might suck is fair...still something to get mad about, but fair nonetheless. If I'm going to pay 700 for a pad Id like to know that its going to be worth it. My fear is that this is the design taken from the bullcrap 8th mixes made earlier in the year...

If anyone can comment please do, Im curious about this pad.

**EDIT**
Wow...They must have been either pissed off, scared, or realized something about this pad because if you look at the link 2 or 3 posts up, there's no picture on the site anymore

<curiousity>

Wow... so much anger... disgust.gif

I have a MMB SOLOMODE 2200 - constantly used, and so far, the only things that broke were of my own fault - and easily fixable. Yes people have had bad experience, yes some don't, but generalizations don'd help.

As for the picture thing, yes it is kind of strange on that point. E19.gif

Why can't anyone make a clone of this pad? Cobalt Fluxes, IMHO the best pad at the moment, sell for $300 + $50 shipping yet, they don't offer an arcade like experience. Even with the arcade mod, the best sensativity easily comes from the center of the arrow.

If someone started hand-building insanely high quality pads like this and selling them for $1500-$2500 a pop, why the hell wouldn't he get business? I'm sure people would go for the $2000 arcade replica than a beat up arcade machine for 2 or 3 times the price.

I can't speak for everyone, but i'm willing to spend much more than $300 for a DDR platform if it gives me a real arcade experience.

You just HAD to bump a year-old thread, didn't you?

Man, for $1700, you could get 3 IIDX ASCs. E10.gif
