Hello. I am interested in branching out into different Bemani games at home. I can do pretty much any song on DDR, and I have been passing songs in 7Key Mode in IIDX for several days.

The games that I am most interested in/that look most fun are Pop'n Music, Keyboardmania, and Drummania/Guitar Freaks. I couldn't decide which one I should start out with, so does anybody have an opinion on which is the most fun/challenging?

Hell, I'll probably end up splurging and getting all 3! E15.gif But still, any opinions would be helpful.

I've not played pop n' music, so I can't given an opinion on that one.

The home controllers for DM/GF suck.

Get KBM. The controller is great, and the game is challenging and fun.

I like DM a lot, but I have a band (And at the time a nice paying job) so I slurged and got a DTXPress, which sadly only workds on 3rd/4th and not any of the others.

Things you didn't ask about:

The PPP controller is also pretty good, but that wasn't on your list.

I also like martial beat, but I think that I'm the only one. It's also better as a work out video than a game.

I'd say gf/dm is my favorite out of those. Actually, just dm.. I'm not much of a fan of gf. The soundtrack for gf/dm is really good, but there hasn't been a home release since what, 4th/5th? Pop'n is probably your best bet. The regular controller sucks, but the ASC is very good, much better than the IIDX one IMO. Pop'n is also the most popular Bemani in Japan right now, so you don't have to worry about Konami killing off home releases for it anytime soon.

Thanks you guys. There was something else I forgot to mention...

I have heard of the Frequency/Amplitude games, but I'm not exactly sure what they are.

I'm leaning towards Pop'n Music, but I've heard the ASC is very expensive, and can only be bought through a japanese auction website, whereas I can simply purchase KBM and a controller together off of japanvideogames.com, ncsx.com, etc.

Frequency and Amplitude are played on a normal ps2 controller. you have three buttons and the option to switch music tracks. You hit the buttons in time with the music. It's a fun game. I would recomend Frequency of amplitude because they tried too hard in amplitude and so it has less class, in my opinion, but both are fine games.

I have a friend who's thinking of selling his Pop'n ASC.. I can let him know if you're interested. It's in good condition, he just doesn't really care for Pop'n.
